About 3 weeks ago I t my 2003 xb9r. Wet road coming out of a turn caused me to lay the bike down and insurance totaled it. The frame had a little dentin it and I know a race car builder and he fixed it for me. I purchased xb frame paint then painted it to match the stock color. I purchased the full Street body from Jim at Hal's Speed Shop, Looks awesome. I put the undertail kit from American Sport Bike. Will try to get pictures up so BADWEB can see

SWEEET!

I hate to say it since you kinda fell down to get to where you are today but...

Sweet!

I got to see a streetbike with full fairing in Hals showroom and it looks awesome. You take them for granted on the track but I'd bet you're the only kid on your block who has one!!!

PICS - WE CRAVE PICS!!!

Oh - and if you have a capable welder/friend, get the "real" frame sliders from Jim there and have the mounts welded to your frame.

Actually... I've watched the Buell frame pucks work and I'm not too sure there's anything better.

M1....Terrys kit from Hal's is way superior to the pucks but very expensive to have done to your bike if you bring the bike to them.About $1200.00.Now if you send them the frame about $700.00.Slaughter theres more to it then just welding.

And once again, dear factory, I *humbly* ask you to start shipping the XB's with the pucks installed. If people want to pull them, so be it, it's an easy job.

Please please please. How many sales are you going to loose when the insurance for an XB is the same as for a GSXR-600 or R-6?

Seems like that ought not have to be said, so I'm with Reep.
Lucus,
Do, you have before and after pics, or just the after?
Looking forward to seeing how it all came out.
Glad to hear you're OK!

If you have bodywork like Lucas just got, I'll buy the argument that the Hal's approach is superior. The Buell frame pucks aren't going to protect all that bodywork and bracketry from being crushed if the pucks are underneath it.

But for normal nakes street bikes, I think the Buell pucks are the best thing going, due to their ability to absorb impact rather than just pass the forces thru. We stopped selling the A.S.B pucks as soon as the Buell ones came out because of their superior design. In fact, I just finished removing the A.S.B pucks from the shop XB9S yesterday so I could fit the Buell pucks. What a pain in the butt that was, they were bonded on GOOD, had to basically grind them off. I will never underestimate the bond strength of Devcon epoxy aain!

i wonder how many people are thinking, so if i lay my bike down i can get it paid off, cool :-)

take the pucks off and go rain riding and after you get your bike paid off put the pucks back on.

if you try this at home make sure its in a controled inviorment and done by a professianl

later, ron

Slaughter, that white XB9R that has the 1200 kit in the showroom at Hals?

I am surprised that thing hasn't sold yet. Full bodywork, chain conversion, 1200 short stroke. That thing would make a killer street bike : )

While I had to weld on the frame I did install the Hal's Frame sliders, VERY NICE. I have some pictures before I wrecked the bike and then I have some as of today. I installed the body kit and I will ride it around for the next week so I can make sure I dont need to modify any brackets before I paint it. From Hals the roll pan hangs down so I made me and still making some brackets so it dont hit the pulley and exhaust. will get pictures soon.

I like it. Nice job. Can't wait to see it when it's finished. You going to put any decals on it or just leave it plain white?

Yep - kinda like Lucas is showing here! I'm wondering if folks are afraid of it?

That undertail cleans up the rear lines on Lucas' a bunch!

Way to go! Now we want paint and more pics! (we're so hard to please sitting in the cheap seats.

When I was in Hals, the add-on sliders looked (I thought) like the mounts were to be welded to the frame. If you take your bike apart, drain/ventilate/slosh the tank, I was thinking the mounts were just welded in place.

I've had 2 chassis with 2 different low-sides and no sliders, I'd bet those pasties work just fine in 90% of falls. One of mine was at close to 120 and the frame is still usable.

See if your dealer can get the Buell Racing stickers from Duga. They pass them out like candy at the races. They'll look "right" on your bike!

I LOVE THAT KIT WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT THE BODY LINES DON'T MATCH UP WITH THE FRAME.It makes it look out of place

all I can see is the reason the body lines dont line up is to help the air flow to the engine. I did notice now (running stock oil cooler) that it does run a little hotter.

Waiting for my carbon fiber Race front fender to come in should be tom.

I work at a dealer in Louisiana (Parts Manager)I have talked to Duga before about getting started with racing so I will have to call him on the stickers.

Thanks
Lucas

Lucas,

Didn't realize you worked at a dealer. That certainly streamlines things a bit.

Get your race license and get out to play!
