As a test, I reinstalled, my stock ECM and found that the idle returned very slowly. I seem to recall others mentioning this but don't recall what the fix was.

Thanks,
Keith

Does it just return slowly, or does it also stick at 2000 or 2200 rpm?

Generally this is caused by an idle that is set too high. On mine (xb9r) I let idle bounce between 980-1030 rpm (definitely not higher than 1050).

Another thing that helped it for me was a tps reset.

But even now with the tps reset and idle set correctly, it still returns slower than I would like when I'm really sporting. It never sticks though.

Just adjust the idle down a bit. With the bike warm, adjust about one quarter turn at a time until it acts right again.

You're supposed to get a Tps reset going from stock to race ecm. I'd assume going vise-versa would be the same

From what I understand is if this was your original stock ECM you do not need a TPS reset, I would however, adjust the idle per the suggestions above.

a tps reset is only req if the ecm has never been fitted to the bike,as it is the original stock ecm that would have left the factory fitted to the bike...no reset needed

In theory, yes. Also note that with every 10,000 miles the dealer should zero the tps during service (its in the service manual chart, not in the user manual chart for service intervals).

Like I said, I didn't have a real problem, but the tps reset did smooth things out and helped the idle to settle quicker and not stick.
