Hey,

I'm thinking about buying a xb12s from the US and would like to bring it into Canada. Does anyone have any info on what I need to do for insurance and bringing it across the border? Thanks

Hremodo,

As far as getting it across the border into Canada , You will have to get the Original bill of sale and title of bike, to the border 3 days in advance yes 3 days they have to clear it there etc. etc , once its there that time then you could yourself go there and do the paper work and then bring the bike into Canada No duty if its a buell , but you will have to pay 7 percent of the bill of sale and later you will have to send 182.00 to reg. of imported vechiles, and then when they send you the forms back to you , you will have to take it to of all places Canadian tire , yes believe it or not Canadaian tire for an inspection for running lights, speedo, etc. also you will have to go to your local HD, dealer and get a letter from them saying that all the recalls have been done if any have to be done yet, I hope I have not left any thing out,...Thats it I think I just did like 4 bikes..

Ride really really fast in a wheely. They shouldn't be able to react fast enough to catch you.

Had a friend bring two Canadian Honda 900RR's (or were they 929RR's) in a pick up to the US before they were available here and got them registered in California.

Go Figure. The same laws that Jerry Haughton just circumvented were in effect back then as well.

If I remember correctly, he did it via Montana. Wish I could supply more details as I can't tell you what the deal was at the border if anything.

PS: OrtegaKid knew the fellow (Mike H) back then as well. You might want to sent him a private email and see if he remembers the details.

Don't know where you live in Canada, but there are some smoking deals out there on non-current models! I suspect the aggravation of filling out forms, inspections, currency exchange rate, etc. would be so cumbersome, you would have an easier time visiting a Canadian Buell dealership (?).

I live in BC. I find that there are more xb's in the States then there are in Canada. Flick, do you know any good Canadian websites to check out?

Hremodo - if you go to the Buell website, it gives a listing of dealers in Canada (and everywhere else, for that matter). I know Heritage Harley/Buell here in Edmonton has some '04 Firebolts/Lightnings that they would like to unload, especially with the apparent (?) price decreases for '05 (at least in Cycle Canada, where it lists a XB9S for under $12,000.00 Cdn). The dealership in Calgary had three Firebolts ('03s I think) at really good prices a year ago...might still be there! Check it out, it doesn't hurt to look...

I've got a buddy lives in Opheim, MT. His farm follows the Canadian border for several miles...
