I'm probably not the first to do this but heres a low dollar way to make the front signals shorter. Removes the signals form the bike. Remove threaded rod(you will have to cut off the connectors but you can find new ones at the auto parts store). Place rod in vise and cut off the side with the most threads I left about an 1/8th of an inch past the threads. Clean off any sharp edges, install nut and star washer as far as they will go on the cut piece. Then re-install the piece from the back of the mounting hole, feed the wires back through the hole, spin the turn signal back onto the threads and keep spinning until tight. And presto!! Nice short signals. Obviously you will have to get new wire connectors but its no big deal. The backs can be shortened by removing the spacers(easier to do then front). I also installed nice LED bulbs in the housing and got rid of the orange lenses inside the signals. An 1156 type bulb will work. I will post pics later if anyone wants to see | ||

I used the rear turn signals which are shorter on the front and used the integrated rear led from American Sport Bike | ||

Thats a good looking bike Odie. Lots of small (except the wheels - was that a major hassle?)really tasteful mods that add up to one tough looking machine. | ||

I put the rear signals in the front, cut the longest threads and mounted the fronts (without the spacers, of course) on the rear tail piece. I love the look, and it was all free! | ||

Here is a spin on the turn signal mod. What i did was remove the light from the bike dis- assemble the whole thing so all you have is the light bucket and the stalk, then with a bench grinder I ground the rubber down so that the silver back with the forked end still holds it like stock but the stalk is almost a 1/2 inch shorter. reassemble the whole thing and it looks like factory, sorry i dont have pics | ||

Don't need to buy or cut anything. This is for the Lightnings, not sure how similar Firebolt signals are. Remove the signals from the bike. Remove the spacers from the signals. Reinstall the signals on the bike with the spacers on the INSIDE. All done in 10 minutes start to finish without destroying anything or spending a dime. | ||

Mr cuell- wheels were supposed to be powdered but the powder wouldn't stick to it (the centers) so I ended up polishing the rims and painting the centers. Two weeks of work just to end up painting them.....it sucked...Thanks for the compliments! | ||

I did the "spacer-inside-the-fender" thing first, then just cut the threads off. Much cleaner IMHO. | ||
