That sounds good. I just wish I knew where I could get Mobil 1 over here. I searched high and low and haven't found it yet.

Saw the 5qt containers of the "new stuff" at Wal-Mart today. $19.95/container.

OK, raise your hand if you're *really* going to run oil 15,000 miles in your Buell.

Well, I believe you could do it, if you could find a filter that would filter that long. But, I think I'll just stick with regular Mobil 1 15/50 for now. Because, at $20 a quart, it ain't worth it to me.

That's $19.95 for 5 Quarts

Is there new additive in the new oil that is not appropriate for the bike?

Good question. I'm no expert, but for the clutch it could be a problem. For the engine I think it's unlikely that new mobil 1 would not be appropriate.

This new oil is just a marketing trick, they just relabled the V-Twin can and put it on the shelves. The new additive is probably the labeling on the can or maybe a redesigned box. LOL

15/50 may be not viscous enough.

The new additives should not be an issue for our bikes, no additional anti-friction additives, just cleanliness and stability enhancements.

The 15W-50 is what I have been running from 1000 miles on. Seems just fine to me, certainly runs cooler than the 20W-50 HD dino oil.

How would you know this?

I run the 15/50 in primary and engine, and have been for quite a while. I get much better shifting that when I had the 80/90 in the primary. I do change my oil and filter at 2,500-3,000 miles too.

I also run 15-50 and love it... In the end, in accordance with the manual, you just need to ensure it's CF rated. The new oils will last longer as designed but I'm a bigger fan of buy quality and change often...

"15/50 may be not viscous enough."

Quiz time.

1. What is the difference between the viscosity of a 20W50 and a 0W50 motor oil at 100oC (212oF}?

Answer: Zero. : )

2. How does the viscosity of a 15W50 motor oil at 21oC (70oF) compare to its viscosity at 100oC) (212oF)?

Answer: The viscosity of a 15W50 motor oil decreases as the temperature increases, so at 21oC (70oF), the viscosity would be greater than at 100oC (212oF).

And we certainly don't need more viscosity at lower ambient temperatures than we do at hot operational temperatures, do we? : )

You're right Blake. I got it backwards - the "50" part is what controls.
