Buy Pirelli Diablo's. I went through three sets of Dunlops, 207's were crap, 208's were better but only last about 2500 miles if you are lucky. I already have 2500 miles on the Diablos and they are only half worn. The grip is amazing and the turn is is great. I have rode really hard and only lost traction once while the tires were still cold and I knew better than to hit it through the corner. |

The 207RR (race replica) have a road carcass with race compound rubber, they grip almost as well as the 208GP. you should be happy. I don't think they make that model anymore, so make sure the tire's you get are not dry rotted. |

If one calculates the importance of a sport bike tire, and its relatively low cost compared to the total mission cost, ie: motorcycle, equipment, tools, insurance, storage, etc, etc, it quickly becomes apparent than any but the best tires represent a false economy. That being said, it would be hard to find a less suitable tire than the Dunlop 207. Many of the members report outstanding handling and wear with the Pirelli Diablos, Metzler M-1 and the Michelin Pilot Powers which happen to be my personal choice. I would get rid of that Dunny immediately. |

Wow thanks for the overwhelming bad review of my new purchase.I bought the 207 rr because the rear tire is a 207 stock tire, and it is the third tire on the rear. I picked up a nail on a trip out west and was in a pinch for a tire. I am about to leave for florida and needed somthing fast when i get back I'll change to the Diablo's Thanks again guys (in hind sight I think I'll ask before I buy next time ) |

Surveyor, I had to laugh while reading you post about the Dunlops. It's your avatar/profile pic that did it. I must agree however, the Dunlops are good for a weekend or so, and that's it. |

The Dunlop 207RR rubber compound is not the same as the 207ZR which is/was standard on the XB. The 207RR rubber is about equivalent to a Pirelli Diablo Corsa which is a step up from a standard Diablo or ZR series tire. |

Good point. Still not a big fan of Dunlops though. (Message edited by Glitch on February 04, 2005) |

I've used all four of those tyres - (not all on a Buell) and in my opinion the basic Diablo is much better than either of the Dunlops. My problem with the Dunlops was not to do with wear or grip it was unpredictability. The Dunlops get very hot (and turn blue) which I have been told is what makes them get pretty slippery and they let go with no warning whatsoever. The Diablos give you plenty of warning before they put you in the scenery - tip; "always blame the tyres" |
