Unless some of you that have done it can change my mind, I'll be using the standard "rotate the engine" method to remove my stock header and install the Force header. If there is an easier way, I'm all ears...

A couple questions...

1. Is 120-144 in/lbs the same as 10-12 ft/lbs?
2. Are there any crush washers in the exhaust ports that will need replacing?
3. Would it be worth my while to clean up the O2 sensor port? It looks like the threaded insert sicks into the header maybe 1/8" and is a bit rough. I was thinking of taking a die grinder/dremel or something to that effect to clean that up a bit before I install it.
4. Aaron or someone else who knows... I seem to remember you posting somewhere that there was a way to reinforce the sig. series exhaust so that it won't break where Misato's did, please advise.
5. I checked Misato's website and looked at where his pipe broke... I was thinking about welding a 1"X 1/16" strip over both sides of that spot. This would in effect triple the thickness of the metal there. Advisable or not?
6. Are there issues with the chin spoiler tabs breaking as well? If so, how would one go about re-inforcing those?

Thanks in advance.

I'll answer one...

I will need new exhaust port gaskets. I'll also need a new front muffler mounting strap.

I'll help
1. yes the same, but if your using a ft/lb torque wrench be careful you have more leverage if its bigger.
2. yeah replace them.
3.with that nalin sig. pipe it won't matter but if you have room to back it out turn it back a twist or so.
4. this sounds weird but it works i got the idea from the ti-force pipe. at the point where the two pieces join take something and clean up the inside of the over pipe and the outside of the inner pipe and make a slip joint there. i welded the slits shut and then put posts to hold the spring to keep it together. the fail to those pipes was the rigidness between the heads and the bottom. i did this in two places on mine and have had no problem. then you can re brace the other places and they should hold fine.
6. i don't know about the chin spoiler i run a full fairing.
all on my 9r.

Don,

I just installed one of these pipes on my 9R, and the ONLY way to get the header off is to rotate it down.

I went in from the back, behind the fan. The flange nuts were easy to remove, but for the life of me, I still couldn't remve the header, and ended up rotating the engine down. It wasn't a big deal, just time consuming.

FWIW, I installed some rubber gasketing material between the muffler and the stock mounts. I don't know if that will work or not, but we'll see.

I replaced the stock O2 sensor with a Bosh 2014 I got from Advance auto. The old one has 20k+ miles on it, so I figured what the hell... I'd swap it out.

Can anyone verify that the Bosch 2014 is replacement for the stock piece?

You're gonna love the way that thing sounds.

Now I need a TFI box, as the race ECM just doesn't have the guts to drive this pipe (as we all know).

How much is one of those TFI things?
