I hate to spur the discussion again, but I have been through about a million search results trying to find the answer I'm looking for and still can't find it. So...I'm due for tires on my XB9S. Actually I was do a long time ago and have been putting it off. I live in Phoenix, and ride mostly around town with the weekend warrior rides several times a month. I'm not a deep corner guy, but I'm trying to locate a tire combo with a blend of handling/performance with mileage. I know that the 2 don't really go together, but would like to get more mileage out of the tire than I did with the stock set. I also remember seeing several website mentioned where guys have located hot deals...Any advice and website suggestions would be GREAT! Thanks.

WRT website... Try a google search for discount motorcycle tires online. I get my Metz M1's from them. I would recommend Z6's or Pilot Powers for you with your mileage requirement. I hear the powers last just a bit longer than the Metz/Pirelli and have just as much grip. If you still need more mileage, use the Z6's.

Ditto the recommendation, sounds like you would like MeZ6's or Pirelli Scorpions. Both are great tires. I like the Scorpions better so far, but don't know what their top end life span will be.

They still handle really well, even if they are not a full race tire. You can still scrape the pegs on an S bike with them, which is saying something, as these things have a LOT of cornering clearance.

Maxiss Super Max's have lasted me around 5500 miles so far, hoping to get another 2000 out of the rear then replace. Plus they look cool and are relatively cheap.

I ended up with a Continental Contiforce on the rear. I've just got it scrubbed in and it seems to be fine although it's been so cold both tires (front is stock) are a little rocklike.

I would have to say go for the standard Pirelli Diablos. The softer Diablo Corsas are rated by Pirelli as a 70% track day tire, yet they still wear better than the stock 207 Dunlops or the Metzler M1's.

Both the M1 and the Diablo have a taller rear profile which really helps the xb's handling if you leave the ride height alone.

The standard compound Diablo is significantly cheaper than the Diablo Corsa as well, yet sports the same profile and carcass design to my knowledge while running a harder rubber compound. I would think you could get 5k out of the rear with extremely hard sport riding and probably more like 10k with lighter use.

Many of the Southern CA rice rocket guys I know are using this tire and like it.

DMTA aka Discount Motorcycle Tires is no longer doing biz.

Part of the tire issue here in AZ is the roughness of the roadway. Not the condition but the agregate used is harder on the tires then in alot of other places. If you superslab it all the time here it isn't as much a worry, its the canyon running that really eats them up here. The road surface just acts like 80grit sand paper. I would recommend the Pilot Powers, or the new Diablo strada coming out. Both are a Race/aggressive profile but have a harder long life compound.

I've run the Maxxis tires last summer a couple of times. I don't see how you got so many miles out of them. Not saying you didn't, it's just that right after 3000 miles on mine and I couldn't get them to stick in the corners any more. Made for an interesting ride once. I bought another set thinking I could make them last longer, I was really attracted by the price. But, alas, the same thing happened, as soon as I noticed they were a little worn, the grip was gone.
M1s now and Diablos next. I've had three sets of the M1s and love 'em. I'm givin' the Diablos a shot next.

I have pilot roads on my xb12s and fjr. Long lasting and I still scrape pegs.

Yeah, I recommended those guys a while back. I live in Denver so I bought all my crap through them. Couldn't believe the savings and they were nice...busy but nice. Should have known at those prices they couldn't turn a profit.

continental road attacks here i weigh 250 lbs and corner agressively hell on the front the imprinted name is still there and on the rear - a couple of good burnouts still has almost a shadow of the name imprinted ohhh by the way i have around 3000 miles on them so far

Where'd you get the info about the Diablos and Diablo corsas? I was under the impression that the M1 was actually the same tire as the standard Diablo except for the tread pattern. If the Corsas do in fact stick better and last longer than the M1s I might switch to Corsas next.

I believe that is the tire that Rubberdown put on the back of his-The Road Attacks from Continental. Back when I had the NighthawkS, I ran the Blitz from them. That was also a very good tire. I do Brdgestones now, but wouldn't knock Cont.

Yeah, I'm here. I ended up with the Continental Contiforce. I think it's an older model than the Road Attacks. It seems to be a fine tire. Today I took my seat apart, hacked out a block of the shi**y factory foam and replaced it with a block of that Supercell Atomic foam I showed you. Got the seat back together. I love it. Still have some finish work to do yet. Let's ride tomorrow. Mike.

I second what Wycked said about our roads... I really like my Diablos and will buy them again. Traction is solid and wear has been WAY better than the D207/208's I've had. They don't have touring life, but I wouldn't want to give up traction for tread life either...
