Anybody run on these tires, and what is your opinion? I am thinking about getting them for the XB?

Some people think they take too long to warm up and the traction is not as good as others. I agree the traction is not quite as good as pilots or the stock D207/208s but for mileage you will do well. I got about 9000 miles out of mine although when I got home last night after a 300 mile day I may have pushed in a little too far...; )

I had that same strip peel off my D220. I also had ugly rear wheel hop on hard acceleration, and they were downright dangerous before they warmed up.

I also didn't get any better life out of them relative to the D205's.

So in my experience, the D220's were worse then the D205's in every way (I liked the D205's), and better in no ways.

The Metzler MEz6 or the Pirelli Scorpions are far better choices (based on my first hand experience). Of all the tires I have tried, the D220 is really the only one I would really recommend against. The others may not be my favorites, but might make sense. The D220 just has no redeeming characteristics.

Thanks guys...I value your opinion and will try one of your other recommendations and stay away from the D220.

I have to disagree with you, I love the 220's and have never had them slip on me yet. Granted I'm not a knee dragger but have came pretty damn close, I do take them to the edge. I swear by them.

The first 90 degree turn after my driveway (normal street intersection, right turn), I always took it slow (knowing those D220's), and I still always felt the back getting greasy and backing out a little. Once they were warmed up they were fine.

Until they started getting wheel hop so bad on hard acceleration I thought I had a transmission problem (again). That was right before that big strip peeled off like in the picture above, which was when I thought the tire should have had another 1000 miles or so of life (not a huge deal, but that is more then 10% of the tire life).

If I had them, I probably would not pull them, but I would not buy a second pair.

That was on a cyclone though, and was about 2 years ago. Perhaps they behave better on an XB, or the compound has been improved.

I'd go pilots all the way, they make the bike handle even better.Just my opinion but the stock tires aren't worth the risk if you like to get on it a little, or a lot.

I put 30000 Miles on D220 s on my XB. I think I like pilot roads better.

I have these tires and I think they are a huge step up from the 207s I had on the bike.

Highly recommended.

I must say this tire was STARTING to slip in straight line acceleration...but given I was riding on steel about 92 out of 360 degrees of rotation that is not surprising....

I took my stock 207 down to the cord when I first bought the bike, only got about 3800 miles out of it. The 205 by far has been the highest mileage tire for me (over 10K). I'm running 220's both front and rear currently. I only got about 8k out of my last rear tire though. Different riding surface though than my last 220 in which I had approx 9k out of it. If I get a good line on the 205's I'll go back to those. I've heard good things about the pilots and the MEZ tires. I think personally find what you like and stick with it. But I still swear by the 220's they work for me and my style of riding, Just think the 205's do the same thing and last a little longer while doing it.
