Can anyone tell me exactly what is used on a XB12R when you install an aftermarket exhaust to keep the check engine light off. I have seen this mentioned a couple of times.

All you HAVE to do is make sure your cables are out of the way and out of sight.

Glitch, I believe he is talking about the circuit that Opto, I believe, made to fool the servo motor with a feedback signal. Do a search for exhaust, etc. you should find it. It's not too old...Odie

But if you don't remove the servo the light won't come on right?

Check the archives under servo emulator. Both Opto and I have different designs and mine has not ever had a glitch, nor has Optos' to my knowledge. You only need this if you want to get rid of the motor. Otherwise just pull the cable but leave the motor and electrical harness-the ECM will not know the difference.

If you are going to cut up your airbox lid, then you can save some money and keep your stock ECM (the Race ECM eliminates the servo anyway) by building a simple circuit to fool the ECM. Mine is in a tiny little box under the seat. I posted a parts list and schematic.
