15Mb pdf about il4's and a firebolt on the track and road.

quote:

If we take the fastest pass by each rider on each bike for all three corners and add them together, we get a total time for each bike. Here they are, from the fastest to the slowest:

1. Buell XB12R 50.70s
2. Read the stinkin' PDF!
; )

Hadn't seen this article before. Thanks Hkwan!

I saw that on the Buell site, it is a great article. Good solid compliments and honest evaluations, not breathless mindless praise.

That is an excellent test! No pissing and moaning about geometry that's too radical, no whining about the clutch pull (cry about it, pansies), no sniveling about the mirrors shaking at idle. Just the facts. Thrash them through some corners and see which one comes out faster. Datalogging shows the Firebolt travelling faster at the apex. Period.

I tried to find a copy of that mag at the local Barnes & Noble, but the lady at the customer service desk turned her nose up when she realized I was looking for a periodical. I'll probably just print out the PDF file so I can have a hard copy.

It's too bad that whoever authored that PDF didn't know what in the heck they were doing. The quality is horrible.

The quality is horrible.

Using acrobat reader 5 perhaps? If so, upgrade to the latest version. I had the same thing until I upgraded. Quality is actually pretty good considering everything is bitmap, including all the text.

My copy printed out fine ,you probably won't find it at B&N now as the article came out in September 2004 in the UK.

You will generally find that most bike magazines in the UK like Buells, they dont share the limited view of motorcyclist in that opinion.

A lot of the roads in the UK really suit the performance characteristics of Buells, I saw a couple of Buells when I was over there for the Christmas holidays, I wish I had taken my XB over in the hand luggage as the weather was great for riding and I had no bike.

I had dinner with Erik last night in Grapevine, Texas, with Dave Stueve, Blake, and several other Buellers. Erik stated that sales in Europe were way up (I don't recall the number, 40%+) and overall were up some 30%. It was really encouraging. Hopefully Blake will follow up shortly with photographs.

Is Erik going to be in Florida during Bike Week? I would sure like to meet him. It seems that everyone who's met him says he's a really stand up guy where you can just come over and talk.

Interesting! A test with good tires on the XB and no complaints.... Must be those Pirelli's really do make a difference!

Eric will be at our demo ride that Stone-Mountain Harley Davidson/Buell and the 3%ers are doing on March 19-20th in the N.Georgia Mountains. It will be held at TWO. Loads of fun and plenty of twisties!
