I would love to see the REVO motor in the firebolt frame... not because I would ever want one (I would actually prefer the current detuned 1000 aircooled), but because it would shut up all the annoying boy racers that are incapable of looking past a spec sheet to see what portion of a bikes performance is actually usable.

But frankly, I can't imagine how they could squeeze the thing in there, and the thing is so heavy it seems like it would ruin an otherwise excellent bike.

OK Gurus (that'd be you Aaron :) ), what would the upper limit be on the 1000 cc XBR9 engine currently. Can you count on 20-30% safe power increases as a general rule of thumb? That would explain the need to tune the airbox (which could not be easily replaced on the firebolt) to handle up to 120 hp without mods...

I woudl like to know if any of the XB9R's parts can be retrofitted to the current line up.

I'm thinking the swingarm and rear shock.

any ideas?

Oh, the Firebolt doesn't need the Revo in it, if anything, the Revo should be put into it's own Buell designed package.

The revo n th eFirebolt, egads I am gonna puke. Now take the performance engineering that went to into that engine and shrink it 20% in size and weight, Now your talkin'

Seriously the Firebolt is a lot liek the S1, everything about it is honed toward the bikes purpose. Making a big change to any of it will screw it up. More power is always good but a bigger engien will screw up the delicate balance it has achieved. I can't wait to get mine.

Here's another one for you...Firebolt (I'm thinking engine, swing arm, rear shock, and tension wheel)hardware into a Lightning X1.

You're already saving weight, but I don't know how the engine would be affected with a side mounted airbox, unless it crosses over the frame, under the gastank to allow for the down draft FI system (like the Road Star Warrior...kind of).

For what gain??. The Firebolt is a completly Engineered package why would you wont to rip part of it out and try to mate it with an earlier beast.
The reason to run Liquid cooling is to keep even temp's across the cylinders, the Bolt has less than 1 deg difference front to rear so why put the extra weight of cooling liquid etc into a bike for no gain.
Dont compare Old bike to new HP or Torque figures unless you factor in weight. Power to weight is what it will always be about.
HP for HP sake dont make a good street bike it,s a total package usable power ie: that can be put to the ground without shredding a tyre in 1000 miles,
handeling that will feel rock solid on both flat and uneven road surfaces, you need a package that makes you feel part of the machine you need to merge with the bike and not just interface with it.
The most important factor but never mentioned in any bike specifications how does the bike make you feel.

A Revo powered Buell would place Buell back in the Naked bike hunt (FZ1, ZRX1200, 919 Hornet, 916 Monster, MV Brutale). That's all. I don't see why there can't be a single model designed to go head to head with this class. It's a far better idea that going for a Revo powered XB9R (as most pundits have suggested).

As far as Firebolt parts mated to a current gen Buell, I again don't see what the problem is. If reports are to be believed, the XB9R engine is around 30 pounds lighter than the Sportster mill. Which would be beneficial to an X1's p2w ratio, yes? Besides, I love that swingarm.

Again, just thoughts as I sit here at work.

There are some differences in the mounting points both front and rear. A Fireblast to other Buell engine swap is likely to be quite an engineering undertaking.

What would be cool is if you could plumb the turbo outbound pipe directly into the engine intake box. So you would have your turbo tubing running through the frame and pressurizing the entire intake.

Interesting... I was reading the third Harry Potter book today, and they just described a brand new model broom that just became available for wizzards and witches to race... The "Firebolt". It is advertised as being very fast and very nimble.

Personally, I still think the name came from somebody that knew about the ship "Firebolt", a drug interdiction ship built for high speed and great maneuverability, and a member of the "Cyclone" class of ships :) There are some perks of working at Lexis-Nexis... one of which is testing our search engines before release... You would be amazed at what you can find in there ;)

Which is why when I hear the airbox is good up to 120 hp, it further fuels my suspicion that the XB9R is really the eventual Cyclone replacement, and the Lightning replacement is yet to appear. I like the turbo idea, and maybe a 9500 rpm redline... can you imagine 120 - 130 hp in the Firbolt chassis with the Firebolt weight. Yikes!

I suspect they'll do it with displacement instead of rpm.
