Firebolt, I'm down in Summerville (near Charleston). Buell's are pretty rare down here too. I ride an S3; I see one XB12S occasionally, and a Blast, but that's about it.

Im from Mauldin and I work at Cycle Gear on Wade Hampton. I met the guy with the CityX and he told me about you getting an XB. Ive see a white one occasionally and a black one on hwy 11 once. Ive seen a few older buells too. One guy on a black X1 and a guy on a red S1 I think. The guy on the S1 claims hes got 120hp out of a pretty stock sounding buell and he swears his red tomahawk tires handle great, ha. If you ever see a red XB12R thats me. We're trying to talk our manager into a bike night after hours at the shop, we could have our own little Buell section.

Sounds like we're getting a pretty good Buell contingent in SC.

I forgot to mention JoelS1 who lives in Charleston, and his wife has an M2. He used to post here pretty regularly but I haven't seen anything from him in a while. There are also a couple of SC Blast riders who've posted.

Mike,

Yea, I saw your home-brew fairing on the XB; it looks great. I wrote you about it a couple of days ago- did you not get an e-mail from me?

Vegas, it hit about ~62 deg. F here in Summerville yesterday. I got in a ~75 mile ride on some backroads. You can pretty much ride 12 months a year here, at least in the Lowcountry.

Of course, it's 31 deg. F this morning and is supposed to drop down to ~20 deg. F tonight!

I am not too far from Greenville in Athens, GA.
We do a bunch of riding in the North Georgia mountains and you are more than welcome to tag along. Follow the 3% BRAGging Rights Club thread in the Storm Fronts section.

Whodom: That is some nice riding weather! We have rain...rain....rain here today! I loved the lowcountry backroads! There is so much of history to see out there. I used to like the ride from Augusta Georgia down to Hilton Head..all on back roads.
Have fun and be safe out there!

Since you found all these buells in SC,you need to start up a "BRAG CLUB".
I live in VA,but both my sons live in MT. Pleasant SC.I spend two weeks out of every month down there. I go to Low Country HD often( there not much on Buell's) but I like their Buell Tech.(Mike)Enjoy talking with him.....Later charlie

There was at one time a BRAG CLUB in charleston. But from what I was told, there wasnt enough people involved to continue. From charleston it takes about 6 hrs. to get to Deals Gap. I'm going to try and make it up there this year if I can.

I hope to make it to the Deal's Gap gathering this summer. I rode up two years ago on a 500 cc Honda (VT500FT Ascot) for our first "national" Ascot meet (we had about 8 bikes).

Deals Gap is 6 hours (from Charleston) taking the shortest route you can, but there are some good twisties between here and there that are worth taking the time to hit. I took the interstate to Greenville, then up through Caesar's Head, over to Brevard, over to Franklin, and up to Robinsville from there. Lot's of good twisties for most of the route above Greenville. It probably took closer to 8 hours this way, but it was worth it.

Robinsville is about ~15 miles south of Deal's Gap and is the nearest town. They have a couple of motels and several resturants. We stayed at the Microtell Inn in Robinsville which is actually pretty nice. On the way back down, I came Robinsville to Franklin to Highlands, short sprint through Georgia, and then down to Walhalla, SC and stayed on backroads all the way back to Summerville from there. That was a great route, too, but it took a good 10 hours.

If any of you are interested in reading about our 2003 Ascot meet, check it out here:

http://home.earthlink.net/~steamloc/ascot_2003.html

Lots of photos- it'll give you a decent idea of what the area looks like. XB12S rider "Rubberdown" was an Ascot rider back then too.

Hugh

Charlie,

Hey, glad to meet someone else with lowcountry connections. I haven't met the Buell tech at Lowcountry yet, but I had good service from them when I took my S3 in for the shock recall.

Matthew, maybe we need to look into trying to re-start a Brag chapter? Sounds like there are more Buell riders here than there used to be. I also remembered there are at least two Lightnings in Summerville- one of the guys posted here a while back.

I know the feeling Firebolt,,,I live in Charlotte and have never seen an XB in the past year, aside from mine. I saw a beat up blast with a guy riding it in the snow last Feb 26 in South Charlotte when I was in the cage.

Jasonxb12s, What areas do you ride in Chlt. I ride to bike nights at Iron Thunder Saloon and Quaker Steak and Lube Weds. and Thurs. all summer by Concord Mills. There was one blue r there. I also went to Gastonia a couple Thursdays and saw some nice tubers.

Hey Charlie I've got two redclay tracks not 10 miles from the house. Late Models, bombers, SS, couple other classes too. The dirt is very popular in this area and I guarantee you'll spot some NASCAR hotshoes checking things out.

Bring your dirt tracker, and a bike, and we'll go racing and then riding. Oh yea,,,,,later.

> [Charlie, I'm in, heck, I'll come down and help you. I must add that I haven't a clue about what you're doing but my enthusiasm will make up for my lack of knowledge/experience. If all else fails I've got a strong back :-)

Really, if you're going to be racing anywhere near me just let me know and me and Little Greg are there! I've been spending a lot of time in the Raleigh/Durham area so I pretty much got this state covered. Looking at a new, and long term, contract in Charlotte so I should have some free time in the immediate future. Keep me in the loop buddy.
