I like it! What kind of spray paint did you use that won't flake off? Would like to do the same on mine. art |

big E, i used the same spray paint you would use to paint r/c cars with.the paint is for lexan plastic. so it should be good for this. you should b able to get it from any hobby store that sells r/c cars.just make sure it is really clean before you paint it. i also sanded it very lightly to give the paint something to grab to. |

looks good is that semi gloss black? any reason NOT to run a chin fairing, other than aesthetic? |

maybe i worded that wrong. what i mean is, is there any reason that I should be running a chin fairing? will it help my cooling system, or is it purely there for looks? or maybe to protect the oil filter? i much prefer the look of the bike without extra hunks of plastic attached. |

I could be wrong, but I think that it is there for cosmetic reasons. I have seen bikes with after market exhaust systems that will not accept the chin fairing. As for the oil filter, I don't think it would matter much. The Ducati Monster that we own has the oil filter hanging down from the bottom of the crankcase with nothing covering it. If something comes up that high to get the oil filter, it will probably get the case also. I pulled the fairing off of my 9R to see what it looked like, and I didn't like it off. |

My guess is that it would create a bit of a higher pressure area right about where the air scoops are at. I think it helps to get the air flowing upwards and through the cooling system. It looks like it would help to protect the oil filter from small rocks and such as well. |

I also painted mine black like that. Instead I used some flat black from AutoZone called Grip eaz. It goes on with a texture so that all the road debris doesn't scratch it all up. Been on there for about 5-6 months, or about 4500 miles. I agree I think it looks so much better this way. |

fullpower don't know if it is semi gloss or not. when you paint r/c car bodies, you paint them on the inside.so they always look real shinny.but on the inside it always looks kinda semi gloss to almost flat. |
