Mine does it in second, no clutch.
Take it to the rev limit in 1st, shift and wack it.
Won't do stand ups etc, but it sure comes up.

Hmmm, my XB9 is pretty much stock at the present, but I can get the wheel up in both second and third. I think if I was really trying I could get fourth too...
I have to be careful...either end is liable to be in the air

we were talking bout the 12r making it up in second with just a roll on well thats it the jardine is back on the bike here is the trick to keeping it off your oil lines mount the whole system like it says to in the instrucions then grab the whole can and give it a yank towards the right of the bike it collapses the strap bracket at the mount and moves the strap away from the lines |

Juuuust finished installing mine. Oil lines are fine away from the can, but close to the bracket. Afraid of it rubbing on the bolt for the can strap. I'll just have to keep an eye on it every now and then... Oh, and don't know about everybody else; but my instructions don't describe the "updated" brackets for the fairing. For all those who will be installing theirs soon, prepare for it to take longer than you think, for the unexpected. Like mine had an oil leak on the fitting right in front of the oil filter. But to reseal the fitting I had to remove the oil pressure sensor which was a PAIN unless you have some efficient tools. Just a warning... |

Okay, did you put the chin fairing back on? XBOLT12 said his chin fairing broke in the middle, where one the mounts/brackets is supposed to go. Although it is in excess of $300, I was thinking about the Buell CF chin fairing. It looks like a one piece chin fairing. I think I need a chin fairing to keep some of the road grime and rocks off my engine...and maybe the nail in the back tire. Otherwise, I thought the XB looked pretty good with the Jardine and the chin fairing off...reference pics of CaptainPLanet's XB.
If you have pics of the Jardine installed, or something you think is useful, pls post the pics or send to my e-mail in the Bio. The instructions don't always cover everything. Will install the Jardine on mine when I get it from Dave.
Thanks for the feedback...look for oil line leaks, noted.

my front bracket that attacthes at the bottom of the header didnt line up with the bolt hole it was supposed to..a lil grinding worked find (the bracket not the header)i took two screws and nuts and reattached the lower fairing middle part to the outer. so far so good...if you do a lot of freeway riding..get some ear plugs.  and enjoy |

As for the chin fairing brackets, of course I was referring to Jardine brackets-the stock exhaust has integrated brackets.
The chin fairing did not break into pieces or anything, the tab cracked where the red piece runs under the gray section and has the front bolt running through it. The problem with Jardine's method of mounting is that you simply put bolts through the front holes in the fairing and nuts on the back side. While this holds the fairing sections together, it does not support the front of the fairing at all. With the older Jardine chin fairing brackets they were only supported at the rear. As such you could easily push the front of the fairing to the side. I believe this allowed the fairing to vibrate in the wind and eventually crack the front tab. With the new style brackets, the fairing is solidly mounted, so I doubt you will have a problem if you start with the new brackets. As I said before, a simple fix for the broken chin fairing tab should be as simple as gluing in some re-informent like fiberglass cloth or carbon fiber in the inside of the front of the fairing, which will make it stronger anyway.

No problems yet. Havent riden much though. I'll get some pics on as soon as I get a chance. fiberglass reinforcement would be a good idea for the fairing... |

Are you guys using the same Jardine as me??? The noise from my induction is louder than the exhaust from the Jardine...
When I'm cruising the Jardine is pretty quiet, it's only loud when the throttle is wide open... Mine is only a couple of weeks old... |

trench.mine is the same,at cruising throttle its acceptable,crack the throttle open though and its very loud....the clue might be in the age of it though,ours still might have some packing still in side it,would still recomend ear plugs at all times though,even wind noise can make you go deaf over time,and when your hearings gone its gone.....have to have my hearing tested for work,and the top level range has deteriorated over time due to car engines

The part number for mine was RACE-18500312302. I don't know if it's the same as yours Trench, but I can definitely say that mine is loud and has been from day one (not that I mind!). |

i have it this way and have had it for quite awhile now i have completely extended and retracted the rear suspension to max travel and it will not rub i know in the pic it looks a litle close but you can get your finger in between the oil line and the strap bracket

WOW. I see what you mean by ear plugs required. This thing sounds like straight pipes at anything above idle. And the Drummer is louder???
Maxima: I was worried about that. Did'nt want that oil line touching the bolt. I routed the right one in your pic around the other side of the bracket. Just did a little pulling and it now stays waaaay clear of it. |

It is funny, but my Jardine seemed waaaay loud until I cut my airbox. Now the Jardine doesn't seem as loud with all the intake noise. I think it's just a matter of relativity though and the fact that a woman I was passing on the road had her finger in her left ear as I went by should be a hint-heh heh!
I think this combination will cause hearing loss a lot quicker than wind noise.

Oh, BTW-the bike pulled a third gear wheelie on hard acceleration and shift up a mild grade this weekend. Seems like it was the dense cool evening air that made a little extra power.

Same thing... I even had a leak from the front header, now it's even qieter from the exhaust and THE ONLY thing I can hear is the intake noise...
So you guys who say the Jardine is loud might not want to cut your air box back... |

Funny...loudness must be a subjective thing. Maybe I should clarify...way louder than stock, louder than the race pipe, and not quite as loud as a Harley with straight pipes. It's more throaty, with lots of bass, and a little European accent! |

I've found that the reason the Jardine is so loud is because the exit pipe is so short. I am fabricating an extension for it that should keep the high volume more focused away from the bike (make everyone else deaf, not me). The Jardine is stainless right? |

Hey I had my hearing tested last week... In 10 years no noticable loss... Imagine that... Even sitting at a test bench listening to 1kHz tone for a living and no loss... I can still hear a TV power up from the next room... And I've been riding bike for most of that time, never wore ear plugs, love my bikes loud...
But then I never really liked listning to music up REAL loud... And use hearing protection when operating power tools... |
