I would imagine that it was produced before the 12, so when it was produced, it indeed would have fit all XB models. |

DO NOT use an XB9 ECM on the 12. Fuel maps are off BUT the redline is higher. Even if the motor felt good, you'd be running lean and maybe worse, over-rev the motor. Mixture MIGHT adjust by reading the oxygen sensor but that redline thing could bite you. |

Trench, it's an honest mistake, but a mistake nonetheless. Dave (no suprise) has it right. The problem is that if you look at the 04 literature for the race ECM, or even just read the box in your hands, it gives the part number, and says "for use with *all* XB9 models". No year, no disclaimer of any kind. It was true when printed, but there is now a new 05 unit. So if they are a good dealer trying to do the right thing, and have a race ECM sitting right there in stock and on the counter, and look at it when you come in and ask for one, it is an honest mistake for them to give you the wrong one. That being said, the 03 ecm works pretty well on the 05 9's. The low end is not as good as the proper 05 stock or race 9ecm, but the top end seems just as good (if not a *hair* better). The only other difference I observed using the "wrong" ecm is an occasional sticky tach needle when the bike 'booted up' and the very rare "almost but not completely stall" when hitting the throttle on a not quite complete stop on a not quite completely warmed up engine. |

correction... should have said: 'Thanks Dave, though we have a dealer here in Aus that told me yesterday there is only one Pro Series ECM part number listed for the 9... They now only list a 05 xb9 Pro Series ECM??' |
