Your 12s has that servo controlled variable length internal path exhaust, you are going to be VERY hard pressed to find a can that will do much better.

You might be able to throw on something really loud and pick up marginally more top end, but not much, and you will loose bottom end.

New12r (Charley) has a 9 race pipe on his 12R that he got from Glitch and he loves it and it seems to work great. He has been running it for about 3-4 months. He ran the dyno with it and got good numbers. Maybe he will chime in a give you better info.

Reep Bottom end is not lost with a D&D or the Drummer.

Are you sure S1? I know I saw some Drummer (great pipe, don't get me wrong) dynos where 12's lost power over the stock pipe. I thought the D&D was the same, lost a little down low and picked up a little up top, and was freaking loud as well.

I defer to anyone with first hand experience though, I have a 9.

Drummer Bill seemed to mimick the stocker pretty much not a whole lot of gains but some on top.The D&D that Bubba posted seemed to lose some mid range and that is strange cause thats what D&D boasts about ...always have. From the seat of the pants and I've owned both for a considerable amount of seat time the D&D kicks butt hands down. Now I've ridden a nine with a Drummer and let me tell ya thats a wake up call.My bike pulls way harder with the D&D on.It really surprised me how much of a difference.

Who sells the Drummer? What is the average cost? What does it look like?

It sounds like the Drummer is best for the 9, and the D&D for the 12?

Opinions...I know it is all in the ear of the beholder, but which sounds best: Drummer, D&D, and I am adding the Jardin slip-on?

Any opinions out there

Thanks for the data points BadS1, thats nice and clear.

The Drummer can be gotten at http://kdfab.com/v-web/portal/cms/index.php. They are a board sponsor. The web site (IMHO) is pretty hard to navigate, but the information is there if you thrash around long enough.

In my opinion, get past the whole "hey they are just modifying a stock can" thing, and simply look at what you get for what you pay, which by all accounts is a *very* well done pipe for a 9 for a fair (not cheap, but fair) price.

How do you define "sounds best"? Tone? Volume? Different pipes have different perks.

I have a race can from my 9 if anyone is interested it can go very cheap! Its just sitting around, only used one season. Bought a Drummer. It could use a coat of high temp paint on it... Email me at blair77@rogers.com if your interested....

Yes, I did lose a little on the bottom but not enough to care, My bike pulls really hard and the race pipe is way lighter than the factory making turn in much quicker! It is a 9 pipe, be careful for mine required the right outlet to be re-shaped so the Idler Wheel would not hit!!!!

The wheelie in the avatar was pulled at 1900 rpm! I dont think the small loss in the low end really hurt!
