Looks good Bio. That sucker will sure let a lot of air through. I've seen a lot of threads here discussing the air box mod and snorkel yank, does anyone know if this would void the warranty?

Keep in mind 12bolt... That's more of a "airbox cover" mod. A good one : ).

There's more you can do to the airbox it self. Do a search.

Yeah, I assumed Bio had done the mod to the actual air box whether that be swiss cheesing it or removing it. Otherwise it would be a cosmetic cut!

New River HD here in Jacksonville, NC told me that the first thing they do to the XB's is take the snorkel out.

Hey Biofilter-

What are you doing to the actual airbox lid?

Nice Mod, by the way!

The intake will be LOUD...

I had to run my bike with the dummy cover off for a couple of weeks while I was waiting to get the lid back... Was off to get a mold made up. Anyhow, the induction was louder than my exhaust...

BTW, i've eliminated the air box just like you have Bio.

Why is that grid over the remainder of the 12 lid?

How will you keep that lid secure to the top of the filter?

Neat man. Very neat. I might need to do something like that sometime too.

Who was it again who made the holes in the plastic around the gascap? That was neat too. I've been trying to find those pics again to no avail.

One question. If it rains, how will you keep water out of there?

Dont plan on ridin in the rain but if it happens im accually thinking about gettin the plastic seal strips like they use to seal food. cause they bond to plastic and come off easily. they can be folded up and put in my pocket for those"i'm not sure days". just an idea

That might have been mine , I made cut outs similar as above but smaller and larger on both sides so would not create a turberance of air flow inside of box... I`m not sure but with all that air going in might create a turblerance or however one spells that :-)) I can post again if ya want

Any good reason to or not to pare away some of the lower airbox base? Obviously you'd have to leave the mounting hole areas intact, but is there any good reason not to cut down the sides and maybe just have 'X' legs going out to the mounting areas. To my eye having an exposed filter looks real clean, but then having that monster of a base complete with the tabs and raised edges on it makes things appear a bit 'busy' (of course I do realize that unless you're doing this on a CityX that no one but you will likely ever see it anyhow).

If you ran a heat barrier between the engine and the air filter then you should be good. I would tend to think the lower airbox assembly as a whole reflects some radiant heat from the engine.....Odie
