Very nice of you Steve (Jerseyguy). Any chance the file is small enough (<60KB) for posting here? Just click on "Upload Attachment" below. : )

A couple of you asked questions.

I had the material left over from a job. You can get it from McMaster-Carr, or any plastics supply house but it might be a bit pricey. Frankly, a cut down 4x4 with a saber sawed radius like mentioned above is adequate.

I don't know if you can jack under any other mufflers besides the stock, race & Drummer.

I use the same setup with a Craftsman lift. The only difference is that I welded mine up out of steel and I set the saddle down low enough that I could roll the lift right under the bike with the tires on the floor. The saddle has a radius to fit the muffler and has rubber glued to the steel for traction and to keep from scratching the muffler. It is super stable without safety straps so I don't use them.

Steve (Jerseyguy),

Thanks, you just helped me with another project drawing for students in my CAD Drafting class!!

After I tell them what this drawing is for, they will get a kick out of it.

They have been forced to endure looking at photos and video of me at track days, look at several race posters all over the classroom and listen to me blather on about sportbike riding in general.

If they what to get get off the subject we are actually studying that day, they all know what button to push!!

Hey, they're still getting an education, RIGHT??!!

Gearhead - I've got a bunch of drawings if you want for instructional purposes. Most aren't simple like that one and are mostly created in SolidWorks.

Dave - I'll see if I have any material left. I think I used it up, but I'll check.

Dave, sure no problem! Sorry I missed your call last weekend, Brent and I went to watch T.J. Moto-cross a heavily modded 50cc bike!! Too Funny!!

Jerseyguy, yes, thank you!! I'm always trying to scare up REAL drawings for my students to look at and learn from. Drop me an e-mail at gearhead@gearheadgallery.com and we can figure out the details. Thanks again!!

Question, do you need that "cup" device for the muffler when jacking it or can I just put a lift under if, strap it down and lift it?

You don't absolutely need it but it will make it much more stable. If not, make sure you strap it good!!!

Jack the muffler? And Erik the exhaust header? To some, this statement will be make lots of sense...

Why would someone call their muffler by the name of Jack, anyways?
