My garage and office are sorely in need of some Buell/XB posters. Anyone seen any cool Buell/XB or better yet... City X posters???

Court maybe you should go into the poster making business what with all the photos of Buells you've got!

Open to any ideas!

thanks,
Nick

Check Ebay. I've found some of the LARGE posters that the Buell dealers get. Generally great prices too.

I took the "banner" off one of the crates the bikes come in. So now I have a huge Buell banner in the garage. If you have a friendly dealer I'm sure they could get you one...free.

I've got a pretty fair collection in the "Buell Basement".

I foresee the poster of posters being the "Home Sweet Home" poster of the XB is all the cityscapes.

Greatest to date...ignoring pre-1995 posters and "proto-posters" that never made the cut, would be the Australian "Take one for a Test Prowl" S1WL posters used at the radce track intro.

Course there is the fence stradler, the white S-2 coming round the red rock mountains......

By the way, my favorite in my collection is not a Buell....it's a circa 1977 "The Thunder that will not Stop" poster showing the NEW 1977 XLCR Cafe Racer. Someone later took a look at it and it was quickly called home. The entire "will not stop", for those of you who rode old iron barrel dual disced Sportsters, will sound familiar.

Also my favorite (non-Buell) poster would be the FXR squared and FXR cubed poster, and I never really cared for the FXR's, just dig the artwork and theme.
It's Back...
My favorite Buell would have to be this one from Germany of an X1 (in case you can't tell by looking at the muffler)

Oh, yes, XB posters... Here's one from Germany too bad that it is water damaged from a leak in the roof...

Brankin:

That's it!

The good old "PASSION" poster remains, perhaps, THE classic. The "Buellsaw" poster is indeed a good one....too cool or what?

I asked my dealer for their Buell banner and they charged me a depreciated value, oh well. $13 was a bargain! I got my banner!!!

I do wish Buell would offer posters/patches though...

Guys, make your own poster!!

I'm in the publishing business. Any of you could have a large format digital print made of your favorite track day photo. Digital prints are not cheap but the more that are produced the cheaper they get.

First, if you or a friend of yours did not create the photo, make sure you have permission to use it (if you are going to produce more than one)
Second, you really cannot use the Buell logo on it, but again if several were going to be produced, it would be more cost effective.

Just a thought...

Thanks for the expert advice Gearhead. Sounds like a neat thing to do. Unfortunately we must remain strict concerning any presentation of what could be contrued as advertising, so I edited some of your post accordingly. Please feel free to post a link in the "Links" topic. Thanks for understanding.

Michael, could I interest you in a sponsorship?
Could get you more business than you might think.
You wouldn't appear to others as being sneaky, and you wouldn't have to use any more.
We'd all win!

Sort of the same topic...
Where can a person get Buell static stickers that go on car windows. I've looked on Ebay and asked at dealers, but no such luck yet.

Absolutely - have a digital print made and slap on a Buell sticker - no violation anywhere.

DO check copyright of the image though. Obviously if it's of you and you have paid to own the rights - you're good to go.

Keep in mind, pro photogs often charge per image for limited use but they retain copyright. Many trackside photogs just charge $20-$50 per image for full rights - all depends. Top notch photogs charge (and get) $300 an image. Even if you can get access to an image online and copy oe download, doesn't mean you have the OK to use it.

Sorry to sound so anal-retentive but photography is a really tough way to make a living (that's why I'm an engineer)!

Gearhead,
What minimum size digital photo would be required to get a decent quality poster; let's say the subject is a side shot of a motorcycle, no face shots or people, just the bike and a nondescript background and for a typical viewing distance of no less than say 4 feet?

cool story about how I got the "Rip the Twisties" poster.
A few years ago I was on a Team that was designing the new Softail Plant in York. Part of our team was touring the other plants to get some ideas and share some knowledge. Since I was on the team I said we have to go and visit East Troy. You know share some knowledge and stuff.
I was in the Purchasing dept and saw the poster and had to get a picture of it. The guy working in that cube (can't remember his name) said I know your a big Buell fan and gave me the poster off the wall.

Court, I know you have a lot of cool stories from East Troy.
When is the book "East Troy the early years" coming out?

Blake,
I got a poster size photo 24x36 over my fireplace from Dotphoto.com for about 25 bucks

The photo came from my Canon D60 DSLR @ 6.3 mega pixels.

The large shot is as sharp as the 5x7 photo.

>>>> was in the Purchasing dept

Big...like about 6'3" guy? If so, you had personal contact with one of the Armed Forces greatest losses and Buells largest gains. In fact, you could have thanked him for saving your XB when unforeseen forces during development threatened the entire project!

>When is the book "East Troy the early years" coming out?

Ahhhhh....a trick question. There were, unless you count Woodcrafters, no "early" years in East Troy. The "early years" were, depending on how early you want to get, either on Jefferson or Road "X".

The move to East Troy resulted from "Imperial Entanglements".

Projct may take wings this year, it appears to be about time.

Glitch, that sounds familiar. For a while, just about every time we uncrated a Buell, we'd cut off the sides and give them to someone. I still have one that I've been meaning to frame. The first time I stopped by the shop after getting out of the care center this last summer, they gave me one of the XB9R stand-ups. Looks good in my apartment.
