Is it better to just leave the cut snorkle in or is it better to completely seal off the opening?

I took my snorkel out but I cut the top off to seal the bottom airbox to the frame better. I just cut about an inch and a half from the top and slipped the top part back in there. Works fine and you dont get any whistling noises.

what's the advantage to removing the air snorkel
More available air.
To put it simply, more air = more power.
Smooths things out a bit.
Also realize that if you do something to one end (air intake) it's best to do something to the other end (exhaust).

we'll i've done something to both ends. I've got the factory race kit,but i just switched the race can with the D@D slip on,ceramic coated the headers, and I have the carbon fiber air box cover with the 2 intake holes in it,just unsure if the new cover will be worth installing.

If you look at the snorkel's end, it's opening is less than half the size as the hole in the frame.

so would i be better off ripping the the snorkel off, leaving the snorkel on and open up the narrow end, or use the carbon fiber airbox with the the 2 intakes?

I cut off most of it and left the top and just enough to seal against the top of the frame. Then I used a Dremel tool to taper the cut edge until it was fairly sharp like a knife blade. It was an easy job and now I don't get anymore dust in the airbox than before because all the air still comes through the intake scoop.

thanx xbolt12 i'll give it a try and see what happens. I just wonder if it's even more of an advantage using the snorkel modified with the carbon fiber intake airbox cover?

Yank dem dang things outta there! There only in there for the EPA noise regulations. More air is more better. Plus you'll get a nice intake whoosh when you wick it up.

Thanks Glitch,

This does help. So I should cut the snorkel but leave the stack like it is, or is there any modification to the stack to help? I guess this is the equivalent to cutting open the airbox on my Ducati correct? If so, it will make a huge difference. I'll let you guys know what happens. (Or if i need any more help.)
