Any one here built hard bags for an XB yet? i have some cortech softbags which are entirely in adequate for heavy duty touring. i am considering something along the lines of an aluminum ammo box, with gasketed lid, securely clamped to the passenger peg mounting framework. i do realize this would be unsightly, but may well extend my touring range, and would be very easy to remove for around town.
ideas and comment welcome. regards, dean

Here is a design I posted some time ago. I never built them, and I don't think anyone else has either.
They would bolt to the passenger peg mounts as you suggested.
Unlike most other hard bags on the market, they are low, taking advantage of the fact that the Buell muffler is under the engine, and they pick up the lines from the chin spoiler and the rear wheel.
Feel free to use the idea if you like it.

Someone made a bracket that let them use the Givi hardbags and then there is the XB of Dale that has been posted a few times.

Dean, Awhile back Al at American Sport Bike had some of the older Buell soft bags which looked like a good fit on XB's. Might look in the Sponsor Section, I believe there are some photos of them there. Dan

I use the Ventura rack system that I purchased from Al @ American Sport Bike. I have both the 45 liter and (now) 10 liter bags -- works perfectly, doesn't move around, stores a huge amount and snaps on/off very easily.

Give Al a shout or ping me.

Ventura rack and pack from American Sport Bike along with a modified Buell XB tank bag works great!

Ventura racks rock. Only disadvantage is that when you're not carrying anything, the mounting brackets aren't exactly high-style. Not too tough to remove, though. You can carry a house with Ventura racks.

I've scored a few more of the NOS S1 saddlebag sets that work so well on the XB-S models, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F9003943&rnd=4185 340&rrc=N&affl=&cip=&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=17071&cat=&catstr=HOME

They went fast the last time, I have no reason to believe they won't go fast again, and I don't think I'll be able to get them again.

I got a set of the soft bags from Buell via their P and A catalog. They work really well, look pretty good, and follow the lines of the bike - all though they are really, really small. My brother got a set of the soft bags for his S from Al and they look really good, and plus they are bigger .

I've got Givi's on my 9R...or as some call it the XB9RT because Buell doesn't make an official XB touring model yet.

I love the way the cases work, waterproof and securely locked on the bike. I may be changing my mounting setup next year a bit, depending on how much more fabrication I want to do. It works okay as is but I can't put a ton of weight on the right side or it hits the swingarm (damn asymmetrical thing).
