steff..... ive had a noise on it now since i purchased the bike,a very audible rumble from the gearbox when in neutral and stationary, pull clutch and select gear, the noise stops, select neutral and it starts again......... to my mind a bearing was on its way out, took the bike to main dealer to look at,and carry out a service too, when dropping bike off guy gives preliminary diagnosis that it might be the clutch bearing at fault......three weeks later they ring to say bike is ready,i ask what was the problem, and they informed me there was nothing wrong, just changed the transmission oil for me and all is well....i wouldnt mind so much but i had only changed the oil myself under 400 miles previously.... much confrontation later they agree to strip the motor, and now say the mainshaft has lost some of its case hardening by 5th gear???,so that needs replacing, plus they are going to fit new bearings through out....i took the bike in end of october, and still waiting to get it back and if it comes back still noisy ill not be impressed.

Rigga... that is exactly what happened on my Cyclone, both the symptoms and the obvious problem. Shifting might have been suffering as well. The 5th gear drive assembly does not get very good lubrication flow, and the needle bearings can rust up, damaging the mainshaft.

The M2 has a trapdoor tranny, so I did it myself, but they are doing what I did.

yea the repair is being done under warranty..... took a hell of a game to get them to do it though, very frustrating dealing with them at times.. the noise was so noticable, but they just kept on insisting every thing was fine... and they are all like that.....eventually get them to strip the engine down, and they finally find a problem.......for a bike that has only covered 2.5k miles i hope its my only problem with it....funnily enough there was no problems shifting gears, just the noise every time i stopped at lights etc

Reepicheep,

how did you do your own trap door?

I'm wondering if there is anything we can do on the XB to prevent that.

Up until the Blast / XB platform, all the Buells had cartridge (I am assuming that is the same as trapdoor) trannies. They are very easy to dismantle, repair, and reassemble. All I had to do was buy a Cyclone and trash my 5th gear drive assembly. It was all downhill from there ; )

Not so with the XB's, you gotta split the cases. The shifting on the XB platform is SOOOO much better though, so it probably ends up a wash.

I would also post pics of my bros S3 but once again I have not yet figured out how to post pics here. So if someone wants to do it for me

Dirt....Plaster molds of the part you want to make and wet laminations using liquid resin (acrylic) and dry cloth woven carbon fiber. Prepreg works as well (Fiber with resin already in).
