Yes they can do it just fine. I was playing a little today after doing some tuning, Wound it up to 4K in first, let off and whacked it. It came right up to balance point with no problems what so ever. I gotta stop doing this stuff. LOL: Ride safe. Marc | ||

Hmm, how can I say this without it coming across as negative? Several folks have had issues with their pegs snapping on the XB's. I personally saw Mavericks broken peg moments after it snapped on him & he's a little guy. In normal everyday situations the pegs are fine, but to put the added stress from bearing all your weight on them while standing up & then possibly coming down hard & putting even more force on the pegs is an invitation for disaster. And its not just the XB's either. It has happened to several people on new R1's too. Manufacturers work on bringing the weight down & thats one of the ways they do it, lighter weight pegs. Sure wheelies are possible. But the disadvantage with a buell is it runs out of revs unlike a jap. bike. i know people that can throw the front wheel up in 2nd gear but they soon run out of revs and set her down. You need to be an experienced rider in order to do that shift from 2nd to third. Its difficult. Be careful. (in no way am i slamming buells for not having enough rev  ) I love my buell. | ||

Hey Kandie...getting tired of cleaning the Pixiedust off the computer screen?  Hkwan, instead of rolling off the throttle, apply some rear brake. With practice you can get the rearbrake to lower the front end down as smoothly as it comes up, but then your getting an answer from someone who doesn't wheelie unless its a powershift and then its more like a soft lift of the front wheel. Wheelies just never did anything for me personally. I like to watch experts pull them off, but never had any real interest in doing them myself. | ||

I'm too scared I'll loop it... No wheelies for me. I do enjoy when the front end comes up about 6-8 inches all the way through second after winding first out. Sometimes I slow down just so I can do it again!  | ||

How do you guys let the bike back down without slamming it? You can use the brake as stated above, I have yet to master that skill, or you can use your body and the rev limiter. I will ride to the rev limiter and then the bike wants to fall, then I lean back to counter and I will come down pretty smooth. I have been working on long second gears but dont have anywhere to really practice at that speed and distance. The second gears are not near as twitchy as first gear and give much smoother landings. | ||

rolls on?? na just use the clutch..comes up kinda quik but you get pleanty of rpms to play with and find the balance. to let it down easy first thing is to let it down before you hit the limiter second like he said lean back a little. i can also switch lanes by leaning. you are right about second being smoother than first. i have a 9r and bring it up about 35 or 40. they look good 12r gimme a few days and ill post some up for every1. lol might just throw in a flamingo for laughs. brian | ||

I'm an acceleration mono guy... If I'm on it the gas and the front wants to come up, I let it... Then I normally shift up a gear as I hit near to balance point. The momentary loss of drive is enough to bring it back down a little. I don't very often have a need to bring the front back down, since as I get to 3rd or 4th gear it's reluctant to stay up. On the occasions I've had to bring the front down, I've let off the gas momentarily then got back on it reasonably hard, allowing the front to come down reasonably softly... It's just the natural way I do it, I very rarely have the pressence of mind to use the rear brake, only the throttle for me. I know how risky that whole scenario is, too... That's how I lost the R6... I flipped it before I got to use the rear brake... I've been meaning to set some time aside for proper mono practice, but never get around to it, I really need to teach myself to use the back brake... It's true, though, the XB12 definately runs outa revs fast... | ||

Several folks have had issues with their pegs snapping on the XB's? If any one has any data backing this up I would like to send this to the NTSB. This is the scariest thing I have even heard. It is like having a car that the steering wheel falls off when you turn it. Please help me out before we all die!  You were serious I assume ? Marc. | ||

I've heard of it. The pegs can snap while doing stand ups. I hear its because they try and cut back on over all weight so they make the pegs real thin and light. | ||

Got1nut, The boots are Magnum, I believe the model is the "STEALTH". I bought them at Bass pro shops for my 4 wheeler and romps through the woods behind my house. I figure if cops stand around in these things all day they must be good. I am getting a pair of Joe Rocket boots for riding though, not enough protection in case of a fall. | ||

Lomax..very serious. But I also stated its not just Buells. I know of a couple folks with XB's it has happened to & a few on the R1 board have also had them snap. I dont know whats all involved in breaking one, weird foot position? Weight? etc. Nothing serious has come of the Buell ones, but 1 fella on a R1 totaled his bike. Doing a standup wheelie & the peg snapped & thats all she wrote. | ||

the feeling of pulling off your first wheelie on an xb ----- priceless  pissing off your neighbors while doing it ----- daring  having the pegs break while up in a wheelie ----- expensive if not deadly  sueing the chit outta the manufacturer and getting a new xb ----- priceless | ||

You can't sue for a broken peg if you weren't riding the bike the way it was intended. Stand up wheelies, and breaking a peg won't stand up in court. | ||
