Greetings all, Two friends and I are planning a sportbike ride to Colorado in late July through early August. We're looking for some great roads to ride and site see, tourist traps are OK, too. We're coming from Iowa and probably won't be able to spend a lot of days there but would like to maximize our time with some nice rides. Any suggestions?? Thanks!! | ||

Garden of the Gods is cool. Riding to the top of Pikes Peak is fun but very dirty. There is a canyone below Cave of the winds that I drove thru & liked. Awesome country. Continental divide, Eisenhower tunnel, Blackhawk & the roads leading to it are sweet. | ||

The million dollar highway between Silverton and Ouray is an awesome ride with some great views. | ||

The highest road in the country is on Mt. Evans. It is right off I-70. It is a very pretty area. | ||

i lived in gunnison for 12 years, if you ride the road from gunnison to hotchkiss that goes near the black canyon of the gunnison, amazing ride, you can start in carbondale and end up at the blue mesa reservoir, tight fast almost no cops, fun as hell , almost anywhere in colorado is great, just remember it rains almost every afternoon, thunderstorms, possible hail , enjoy | ||

Partial to Southern Colorado. I like Hwy 285 out of Denver to head that direction. Like Schnitzel said, Hwy 92 on the North side of the Black Canyon is incredible. People do multi day climbs on the walls of that canyon, like Yosemite. Muey grande. Ouray, Silverton area, insane gorgeous. Ouray has hot springs, you can get a hotel room w/ a hot spring in it! Mesa Verde, Anasazi ruins there. Crested Butte, my favorite town, in the world, Wild Flower festival there in July. Telluride, hit the 'Fly Me to the Moon Saloon.' Great Sand Dune Nat Park, bring a turban and some peyote. If your feeling friskie, don't hesitate to make a run into Southern Utah; Moab, Arches, you'll want to sell the kids and divorce the house. And remember it can snow on ya in any month of the year. | ||
