Have one, wiring harness sux and you have to get in there and splice away. It does look sweet though!

i have one, got it off of johnf, saved me a bunch of money... i had it painted red, and hot damn it looks great...also dont be scared of the splicing of the wires for the turn signals and brake lights, its very very simple to do and this tailpiece makes the bike look sooo much nicer from the rear end: )

What do you mean by splice? Cut and solder?

The connectors they use don't fit. It's best to cut the connectors off, solder, heat shrink and tuck away. Takes a few minutes but that's all.

The only difference between the 9 and 12 undertails is the color they come in. See here:
They (Ermax) didn't really pay much attention to how the stock harness on an XB-R is wired when they came up with the undertail wiring (wrong bullet sized connectors on all, bullets on each of the twin tail light bulbs, where the stock one uses single spades, no splice on the twin tails into a single electrical feed, etc). So the wiring is pretty much a do over. That said, it's still pretty trivial to do, an hour max with a crimp tool and connectors from any auto parts store and it's done. I personally would make an adapter harness to go between their tail light bulbs and the stock harness rather than hacking on either their wiring or especially your stock harness. If one is so inclined, the modules that make an Aprilia Mille/Tuono twin tail light function as the turn signals as well will work with the kit.

I'm getting our first LED versions of the undertails with clear lights in stock this Friday. I've not seen how well the Ermax LED lighting works yet. LEDs can be anywhere from GREAT to AWFUL. Our integrated LED tail lights for XB's are GREAT (see here:), and the Kellerman Mico LED turn signals (on the web site soon) are incredibly bright. They (Ermax) told me their LED's work well, I'll know when they come in later this week. Most LEDs that go into stock lighting sockets that I've seen truly suck.

If you want LEDs that go into stock lighting sockets that DON'T suck get them from Signal Dynamics. They are a bit pricier than most but top shelf items, they also stock a lot of other safety items such as Back Off modules. I highly recommend them.
