So I'm about to get xb12s when i see that their are parts avaliable to raise and pull back handle bars on The xb12r. Which i like for the fairing. Would like to any pros and cons of both bikes and also slighty open minded about city x. How well dose fairing on R work. Thanks Guys | ||

Not sure about that i though that the city x had a bit more of a dirt style bar. I just care more for an upright position. | ||

just put some Moose CR low aluminum bars on my Lightning. they are wider, and i like them a bunch. | ||

I have the HELI bars on my 12R.... love'em. Way more comfy, wrists don't hurt. Combine them with the "S" foot pegs and I'd think you'd be good for some serious distance. | ||

ok the fairing on the bike stock is ok but order a double bubble from Al @ A.S.B. and wow it really does cut the wind out and as far as speed and other things concerned supposedly (i havent been able to confirm or deny things) the r is a little faster due to improved aero dynamics and i have been by the stealer told that the stock r ecm has a more agresive timming map than the s *srug* i dunno arent they the same part #????? all i know is i have ridden both in stock form and the r seems faster to me but i love the twisties so there yah have it | ||

The R may look faster, but looks can be deceiving!  There is no difference in the ECM. | ||

No advantage to the stock City X's handlebars at all there the stock bars with a cross bar welded in for look's.I have Moose bars also.Wider lower and much more comfortable for my long arm's. | ||

BasS1, are you sure? I thought the stock bars were steel (magnetic) and the 9sx bars were aluminum (marginally lighter). Not that anyone would be able to tell the difference though... | ||

I think someone had a wimpy magnet or something.The powdercoat is pretty heavy on them so that might be the problem as well.But they are the exact same bend width and height.I love my Moose's  | ||

Thanks Reep.I didn't want a plate sticking down so I mounted it to the undertail.Still can see the plate just fine. | ||

Its mounted flat to the undertail.When I cut the tail there is a clear spot in the taillight lense that if you cut some of the aluminum out it will give off some glow but not much.But enough to see it. | ||

BadS1 - I just bought a 9SX, and I love the way that your tail section looks. What did you use to cut the tail? Did you buy any aftermarket parts to get it to look like that? A step-by-step description would be great if you have the time. Thanks. | ||

Ok I'll try.I drew a line where it need to be as far as a finish cut.I took a hacksaw first and cut it on both sides about 1/8 inch infront of the line so I had some room for error....for safety sake.Then I used a grinder to bring it down the rest of the way.After that I used a file and sand paper to get it smooth.I then drilled the hole's in the sides for the turn signals using a small bit for a pilot hole then used the size bit I needed so the signal could fit through.I put the tail piece back on before I drilled the holes to they would clear everything that may be inside the tail section.I bought the XB12 frame paint from Dave here on the web.All and all I had about 2 hours into it.And its smooth as a baby's butt. | ||

The glow from my tailight is all I have for a license light. Its visible & thats all you really need. | ||

Thats my patented late night seat warmer. On thing the undertail exhausts are good for..cold climate riding.  | ||

Got the idea from Dana. Here it is"  Don't mind the white dirt bike fender from the sons bike. Found paint to match the amber rims. I fab'd a bracket from stainless steel for the plate and it also incorporates LED signals so it won't look like I have signals till I use them. Should be done with that this weekend. I hope.  | ||

I'm going to paint one side to see how it looks. It's going to be either the amber or the color of the frame. It isn't staying the aluminum color though. Like you said earlier, it doesn't really match the bike if I keep it aluminum. May be too much amber, but then again, it will make it stand out more! | ||
