Last weekend I made sure I was almost to the top part of the full space and took a ride to Daytona for the day. When I got back home, about 300 miles, I checked it again it was almost down to the bottom of the measuring stick. I'm checking the oil right when I get home from work. The ride home is about 15 to 20 minutes at 75MPH so I'm guessing it should be warm enough and I check it in the same level spot in the garage every time. Is this normal? What happen if you overfill? I know I'm not leaking cause I don't have any puddles at work or at home. | ||

Do you give it enough time when checking? IE, wait a half hour for the oil to drain down to the pan. I always check mine in the morning when the oil is cold and fully down in the pan. I never use any oil so I may not be of help here. | ||

Ummm, actually Buell says to do a hot check. Make sure the bike is warmed up, flat ground and on the sidestand. Screw the dipstick fully in after wiping and then remove to check for an accurate reading. Consumption is not totally un-common. Mine uses some oil but does not seem to be a problem I just put a couple of hundred mls (3-4oz) in every few thousand kilometres. | ||

I don't even know how accurate the dip stick is. It says that from the lower mark to the top mark it would take 8 oz or something (I can't remember the exact no. now but I had the book in front of me when I check/filled)but I put in twice the amount in order to get from the low mark to close to the top mark. The dip stick is a little curved as well so I don't know if the stick is entirely accurately. I do make it straight before using it though. The color of the dip stick makes it difficult to check as well. Do they make one that is metal? | ||

I bought a Billet Oil cap/stick from American Sport Bike. It looks great and is very easy to use, that is you can actually see where the oil level is. The original one is real crap! | ||
