Hkwan you can ask M1combat how much trouble I had keeping up in the twisty mountains outside PRescott Arizon with my 12 stuck in 4th after a lowside took off my shifter lever. As long as the bike didn't get below 20mph I could still get the bike to drag itself up the mountains. It was when traffic slowed me down to a crawl that I got real good at burning out the clutch and feathering it to keep the bike from stalling.

As to Blake's comment, the board has had people purposely come here and "pretend" to be interested in Buell's only to keep trying to point out shortcomings and then using the responses to fuel their beleif's that Buell's suck.

Oh, got it. Thank you.

If Blake reads into the topics I've posted and replies I've entered and questions I've asked, he will notice that what I've written is very specific to the bike. Most of my questions show that I've not own the bike for very long. I think there is a huge differences between my posts and those bozo's who have got nothing better to do to be coming here to trash the bike.

BTW, I've encountered many of those folks in my local forum who is giving non-value added comment after I've posted the pictures of my Bolt. Funny thing is that some of these people have not even seen the Firebolt in person.

Maybe 'cos you still list the f4i as your bike in the profile.

Just out of interest, where you at Henry?

Yeah, I have emailed the admin to have the profile adding the XB12R. I have no access when I wanted to edit that.

I'm in Bay Area, CA. I've yet seen another XB on the road here all these times I've been riding a bike.

Correct me if I'm wrong, since the bike has so much torque, I think instead of downshifting into 1st, I can play with the clutch and stay in 2nd at times.

Yep, That's what ya wanna do.

Blake Ibeg to differ with you sir but having been a motorcycle tech for the last 35 years I can tell you if your motorcycle bucks and jerks at little or no throttle in first gear go up a step on your low speed jet or install an adjustable ecm on fuel injected models it will make it smooth as a babies behind

Also cruising at 5 or 10 mph in first gear is not by anymeans lugging your engine

"Also cruising at 5 or 10 mph in first gear is not by anymeans lugging your engine"

Really?! doing that without slipping the clutch? That kinda defeats everything some of these people are saying. Cruising @ 5 mph without slipping the clutch without ANY throttle input would cause the bike to lug/jerk like a wild bull FOR SURE on my bike.

There is a difference in lugging your engine and the jerking and bucking you are talking about If you were in second or higher at that speed then you would be lugging your engine

No, I'm talking about in 1st gear going at 5mph just letting the bike cruise with any throttle input from me. I think the RPM would be like 1000 or so. That's lugging the engine, isn't it?

If you are just letting the bike idle on level ground (more or less) and have it in first gear and are letting the engine drive the bike forward at 5 MPG with no throttle input...basically I would not do that.

I pull the clutch in if I am no longer decelerating when the throttle is let off...let it go too long and the old clunky bunky is gonna happen...not good for the motor.

Hmmm.... Bay area... had bike for a just week a week or two... You didn't happen to buy a red 12R from Golden Gate Harley did you?

Just wondering cause I used to go there and drool over this bike at least twice a month and the last time I went it was *sniff* gone.

No, metalstorm, I didn't get my black 12R from GG Harley. I called them up though but they don't have much of any choice.

Yeah, they don't have a single one anymore as far as I know. The sales manager isn't really interested in selling Buells which sucks big time. Dudley Perkins in SF on the other hand is pretty good. I got my Sporty from them and have no regrets. My buddy got his 2000 M2 from them and they treated him good.

I wish more than anything that there was someone like Dave in these parts of the woods.
