I was committed to getting the F.A.S.T. system for my XB12, however, after talking to Jim Winter at Hals, I found out that the Sharkskinz racing body for '05 will come with an all new cold air induction system molded into the upper fairing section (I havn't seen any pictures yet, but I think air enters in through the air box cover portion of the upper race fairing). This is all new (without the ugly flex hose running over the top) and isn't on their website yet. My question is, which is more important air intake velocity or sheer volume? The cold air induction utilizes the stock airbox and actually pressurizes it, whereas the FAST system removes the air box entirely and utilizes sheer volume to feed the combustion chamber. Which, theoretically speaking of course, would be the better advantage. Or, could I do both? This hypothetical question assumes I have ported/polished heads, cams, highflow exhaust and the proper technology to tune the beast.
