After over 14 years and tons of adventure, I said good bye to the Buell XB9SX and picked up a 2020 Triumph Bonneville T120 Ace Cafe edition.

Well, at least you did one right thing - sold the Buell.

You need to buy Honda Neo Cafe Racer, not Triumph.

European motorcycles are less reliable than Buell. That Honda is not just more reliable but also looks better than that Triumph.

I see mostly Triumphs and Ducaties here on the streets rather than Hondas. I also newer saw Honda Neo Cafe Racer on the streets. So Neo Cafe Racer is pretty rare motorcycle also.

The Buell was definitely super reliable, never had any mechanical issues with the bike...loved every second of owning it. I was crushed when HD shut them down. I always loved having a bike that was different than every other bike I saw on the street. Hondaís are a dime a dozen. The Bonnie has a classic look and I donít see them every day. I also considered the Moto Guzzi V7 and Royal Enfield.

Lol, no dude. Boring-as-hell 4 pot, no thanks.

OP made the right call. If I were to ever sell my Buells (no chance), I'd switch over to a Speed Twin or something similar.

Buell buyers are happy twice. First time when they buy it and second time when they sell it )

Yes! Totally!

They're such garbage I can't imagine anyone as stupid as me owning a Buell or spending a ton of money to customize it, what a waste of time and money for such a POS... Right TP-Hack?

Well, it is not total POS, but trust me average owner will be happy to get rid of such headache.

Regarding the Triumph I have to say that across all European motorcycles Triumph is the worst in terms of crafting quality. If OP will dig under the hood of his new motorcycle he will see really bad quality of welding work on the Triumph frame. Ugly welding beads covered with powder look really unpleasant.

Going from Buell to Triumph is actually downgrade.

We are
TPEHACK doesn't speak for any of us.

Go over on BuellXB.com and ask about TPEHAK

You will get an earful. I think TPE has been banned from there under 2-5 different accounts.

Good luck with the Triumph, I know a guy who has the non cafe edition of the Bonneville and it's been a reliable bike. He enjoys the heck out of it.

Personally I think the XB9SX is the best Buell ever made. Wish I never sold mine, but love my current one.

We are not really Buell enthusiasts, we are just Buell owners.

I think 2010 Buell XB12Scg is the best motorcycle across all Buell and EBR motorcycles. It is actually the best American motorcycle ever made. I wish they made Buell XB13Scg with 1275cc stock engine, I would choose XB13Scg over XB12 or XB9.

If everything they told in the internet about European motorcycles and Triumph particularly is true I would think twice before replacing Buell by this motorcycle because of everything they told about Buell turned out to be true.

If you live in the UK maybe it makes sense to own Triumph since they can fix their shit faster on the motherland.

I have been "pushin' scooters" around for nearly 54 years! I have owned (or ridden) about every major brand in existence (from a 1947 Indian Chief-my first "bike," to a Simplex). My BSAs and Triumphs were some of my favorites. My BMWs were excellent but stoic. Ducatis were a thrill, but mechanically finicky. Buells have a living, breathing, personality-much like an HRD Vincent. They will always be a classic (especially those that remain un-butchered). They are flawed for certain, but very few man-made creations will elicit such a dedicated following (especially in such a relatively short live span). I currently have two-a 2003 XB9s and a 2004 XB12S. I would sell my Harleys and my 1978 Ducati 900 GTS before I would sell the Buells. If you want a motorcycle to thrash about until it is inextricably expired, then buy something more suitable to your "needs." Me, well I am going to thoroughly enjoy my "future classics" in the hopes that they will out live me for generations to come. Signed: "That old guy with the classic bikes that you wanted as a kid."

Well said ^^^
Motorcycles should be an extension of ourselves. Some of us are finicky, high maintenance, and even ugly (raises hand for all three, lol)
But theres still someone that loves us: )

There are no 'bad' motorcycles.
