As seen on the Gizmo.com.au website, Buell in Australia has produced a one-off, GOLD plated Buell Lighting motorcycle !!

The XB9S motorcycle's tank and fenders have received a 9 carat gold paint job, while the rest of the metal has been nickel plated. The saddle has been made of deer suede !

No price has been announced (if you've gotta ask, you can't afford it), but I'm wondering how much the insurance is going to be ??

As much as I feel like I really ought not to like that bike, I can't help but really like it. It brings back fond memories of hot wheels I had as a child.

I think it is really cool.

How difficult/expensive is it to plate plastic parts? I'm thinking it's not too big a deal nor very expensive. All the metal polishing though could be time consuming and thus expensive.

A motorcycle like that is not for riding - it's for displaying in your home if you're Erik Buell or for display at a Buell dealership. Art.

The plastic is not really "plated" with gold, thats what the paint color is called. If you get up close to it you would see and in my opinion the paint made it look tacky. The nickel plating......well that is just breath taking.
