This is where we discuss the XB line of Buell motorcycles.
Political threads will be removed.
There are plenty of political forums.
There are not that many Buell Enthusiast forums.
We'll keep this one Buell related.

thanks glitch, and i apologize for my transgression(s). the local temperature is 18 degrees(F) ice on roads, and snow on ground. my XB is at the dealer in soldotna, waiting for a new brain. displaying touble code 58, ROM failure, indicated service: replace ECM. also they will be fitting a nice new flat front brake rotor. that is the status of my XB. regards, dean

I lost friends over political discussions.

I lost the rest of my friends trying to explain why I became Christian.

And I almost lost my family when I came to believe in the Judaic/Hebraic roots of Christianity, and tried to explain that to them.

I won't miss political threads and I'm glad religious threads haven't come to pass on the board so much (remember only one and made the mistake to get involved).

I love talking 'bout politics and religion though, but I learned online is not really the right place. Generally what you type in a post can't carry the way you think. If you type that message carefully, it will carry your thoughts for that moment, but a few posts will never reflect your whole mindset on the matter and is thus prone to misunderstanding. It is a rare occasion if you meet someone online that 'reads what you type', regardless of wether you agree or not.

So yeah, if it was up to me (and it's not, I know) I'd get rid of those threads.

noticed that the XB front rotor is really heavy. has any one tried a lighter carbon or steel wave rotor? i bet this would have a dramatic effect on the way the bike handles. ( i realize this could be either good or bad). just curious if it has been tried.

When I was stationed in Korea a bunch of friends and I were sitting in my room drinking and hangin' out. We got into a discussion about religion and politics (mostly religion) and a close friend and I didn't talk to each other for almost 2 weeks. He was really pissed off!!! I hate religion and politics!!! Odie

I'd be really curious about ride/race reports on the wave rotor!

Heavy rotor is not bad from a warp-stability standpoint but all that spinning mass is NOT a good thing.

ZTL with Zero mass would be perfection!

Are they going to replace the rotor under warranty Dean? Think I need one too...not game to give the bike to the dealer in case of no warranty.

I was told by the guy who changes my tires that the XB front wheel assembly is one of the lightest he has come across.

So what your saying is that questions like this would be considered political or motorcical, "Who would most likely ride an XB Buell.... Bush or Kerry?".

Bush would probably fit better, Kerry would be too tall for the XB.

This is my Buell, without me it is useless.
As a pair, my Buell and I can travel great distances, we have many and various adventures.
My Buell and I are a team, we function as a single unit, eating up the miles, finding new roads, learning to travel old familiar roads better, always seeking the ultimate line. clutch, throttle, shift, repeat. stop to add fuel, repeat. every ride is an adventure.
Thank You Erik, it has been a good year.

regards, dean h ravin

There shouldn't be political OR religious topics or posts anywhere on BadWeb, period. There's plenty of other places you can go for that. Saves bandwidth that way. AND keeps ME from getting threatened with physical abuse.

I dunno...

Looks like we may need to bring in some code enforcement officers to randomly inspect threads and check for violations. We may need some sort of a Board before which those charged will argue the merits of their thread, and where thread removal will be decided. Repeat offenders may need to be fined, which will require some sort of paperwork and hence supervisors to sort and secretaries to file. To help defray the expense of these new additions, a user tax may be in order, although a Judgeship needs to be established to decide between a tax-per-post or tax-per-membership system. Once that is sorted out, a proper authority to collect and disburse these fees will probably be a good idea...Does anybody see my point?

Ever hear of that road "paved with good intentions?"

Ever wonder if some XB owners feel more "at home" on the XBoard and hold virtually ALL of their discussions here, regardless of topic?

Ever consider that humanity may not need babysat so much?

I understand the good motives behind this new policy. The policy itself is a little unnerving. I don't even know if this, my post, will survive.

Nope, I know it's true.
But, if you're in the XBoard it's XB related regardless of if you ever go anywhere else. I can't help it if you don't want to explore the rest of the BadWeB.

Ever consider that humanity may not need babysat so much?
Don't care, only worried about you guys and keeping things on topic, this isn't a sound board for your every thought. Maybe you ought to start a blog.

I understand the good motives behind this new policy.
Then you won't have a problem with this policy.

The policy itself is a little unnerving.
The policy of staying on topic in a topic specific forum unnerves you?

There's no reason to get testy Glitch, I was only presenting another point of view. I visit most of the areas here, particularly Jerry Haughton's excellent and ongoing epic. Some people probably don't get around as much, and just check in here. That IS a valid point of view, and if you want to be hall monitor and kick them out, have at it. Still, you can accomplish the same goal without using your power so enthusiastically.
