"The Buell is very responsive, yes, but maybe overly so" How can that even be possible?
Sounds to me like rider ability can not meet machine potential. Anyone else?

If you think the XB is "overly responsive" you need to lay off the red bull before you go riding. Take a chill pill... Relax... BE the bike : ). I think a rider being "Overly Inputive" would be a better summary : ).

Darth, I must have gotten a different set of 208's, then.

The shape is no where near the same. I could pull the 207's to the edge. I still haven't done it on the 208's. The profile is much rounder. But, what do I know, I'm just a librarian.

Then this entire discussion gets complexicated when the new CYCLE WORLD shows up in the mail yesterday with Don Canet (who has done some fairly impressive Buell racing himownself) offering up

the bike offers unflappable stability

By the way....after what I have just been through on the 1995 S2 model years don't anyone ask me why the December issue arrived in early November. : )

Evil- I would have to agree with you. I have a D208 rear and I have yet to reach either edge. My 207 was all the way to the edge....Odie

Don't worry Court, the big supermarkets in England have had Christmas displays up since the end of September!

Oneway, check your steering head bearings per the procedure in the service manual. They loosen up over time and can cause what may feel like brake pulsation.

LOL...I got my 208s to the edge, and never have with the 207s - course, I've never done any serious riding on the 207s. They sure looked the same to me both on and off the bike, though.

Only twitchiness I've found on xb9s is if I lean forward, over the front wheel like on a jap bike or to avoid wind, then the bike's handling goes a bit haywire. Seems on the xb9s, you need to stay in the upright position.
What I love is with a simple shift of your arse, you can easily miss that roadkill/pothole comin at ya.
