My rear D616 is getting worn down there, the front (last of the D616's) has a lot of life yet, so looking for something that would be a good match for it. Anything made today close to the old D616? I like dirt roads so keeping with a DS type tire is what I would like to go with.

Shinko 705 is my current favorite for mixed use. They only come in a 170/60 rear, but I've had no issues and really like how they feel. Good mileage, inexpensive, etc.

I'm liking the Avons Trailriders a lot. They have a similar carcass (stiff) and the rear lasts a bit better than the D616.

Shot a bit of video while riding somewhat muddy fire roads a couple of weeks ago. The Avons did alright. Any muddier, and I'd want knobbies, though.

I am also running the trailriders. Haven't done much more than some gravel roads for their off road ability. But am super happy with on road manners as well

thanks for sharing this - I'm going to try the Avons on my 2008 XB12XT. I need to replace front tire for safety certification, and later this summer, I'll replace the rear
