Hello, I had a fuel pump fuse blow the other day and when I checked with ECMSPY the codes were:

Fuel pump short to ground 33 3 3
VSS Short to Supply voltage 43 7 4

Anyone have any idea on what that could be or should I just look for a good repair shop in eastern CT?

Thank you,

Does it happen when the fuel is low and the weather gets hot?

Sure...
Do a "fuel pump short" or "low fuel light on" search.

It should provide all sorts of info how to fix that problem.
Remove the pump, fix the split/chaffed open wire by your choice of methods and replace the pump into the tank/frame.
Have done it myself.

Takes a while, though not too difficult.

No, tank was over half and temp was about 83.

I Searched for fuel pump short and got 625 returns.
I don't think I am getting the premature low fuel light since I can usually get about 4 gallons in it when I refuel.

Did you get the same code or codes?

Thanks.

My 2009 XB112Ss would short only when the ambient temperature is hot (90+) and fuel is low. It happened three times. I replaced the assembly and no more blown fuse.

Fern -

There's...as I recall at least three wires, maybe four to get chaffed thru the insulation..!

My low fuel light stayed on for 20+ thousand miles without problem..! Till the "next" wire grounded... So...you may not be safe from pulling the pump..!

If it happens again I will look into repairing the pump. My main concern at the moment is the VSS Short since it is now showing 20ish MPH at times when I am standing still and the fan is either reacting to that or causing it.
