I spotted 4, count 'em, 4, Buells in the new issue.

Could it be a possibility that we may be moving up in the corporate view?

We can all dare to dream, can't we?

Rich

They are up, most of the gains have been in Europe but they are still gains!
Just wait til the US catches up with Europe in demand for the Buells. Won't be able to keep them in stock.
Good times, they are a coming!

During the Team Promotion trackday rider's meeting this past monday, the organizer said that Reading HD / Buell had sold their entire allotment of '04 Buells. This was (partly) due to TPM partnering with them by offering rent-a-rides on 'Bolts all year.

A buddy of mine just came back from England and he was surprised at how popular the Buells have become over there. He's probably going to move back there this winter, if so I plan to give a visit next year. He told me that for about $200 (think that's round trip) you can take your bike with you on Lufthansa.

EasyFlier...Fan-Focking-Tastic!!!

Thanks for the heads up on Lufthansa. I had no idea I could ship a bike that cheap to the UK. Looks like I now have some vacation planning to do this winter.

Outrider,

I haven't confirmed that through any other sources but he flies home 4-5 times a year on the cheap so I want to believe what he told me.

I'm hoping to get over there next October and spend 10-12 days exploring the countryside.

I'd ring up Lufthansa to validate that price it doesn't sound right to me. 20+ trips in the past couple of years and my extra bag was $120.00 and it weighed 60 pounds. That's flying business class too.

I looked on the web and found references to bike travelers that used their service a few years ago but couldn't find anthing on their website that gave prices currently.

If a bunch of people wanted to go I think you can get an entire shipping container for about $1200, one way of course. Could pack about a dozen bikes in one of those.

October is not the best of months to explore the British countryside by motorcycle. That said, it's been pretty mild this year, as it was last year, but you need to ride \ see Britain basking in sunshine for best results.

If you need to send a motorcycle by air, the price is cheaper by far if you put it in a box. The smaller the box, the cheaper the price. Sorting most of your own import \ export \ carnet paperwork or whatever, rather than paying an agent to do the customs stuff for you keeps the price down.

Sea shipping is cheaper by far, but allow about 6 weeks each way. You can get a lot of bikes into a sea container too. That would be a cheap way to do it for sure. As I understand it, but it costs more, if you ship from the west coast the shipping company might send your bike overland to an east coast port. This would mean putting your bike on a crate, and the smaller the crate.......etc etc etc.

But October is when I'll have the time off so I might have to compromise. Your winter climate is much milder than what we have in this region and I rarely leave the bike parked more than a few weeks during winter. With the right clothing I think it would be tolerable.

I'm gonna have to check on the air shipping, he was still insistent last night that it's affordable. Worst case scenario I'd have to ride one of his old Triumphs when I go over. ; )

I just really want to check out the British biker scene over there and have Sunday roast over in Diggle.

It will take me a few more years where I'm working before I'll be able to take vacation during one of the summer months.
