Hi.
My CityX has just under 2300 miles on it. When I hit the front brake, I hear a tiktiktiktiktik noise that didn't used to be there. A search of the boards has not helped find an answer.
What do you suppose it could be?

Thanks,
Bob

It's a time bomb...in order to stop it You must release the brake and accelerate!

just kidding... use the term "pulsing" in your search and you should see some threads that address the noise you are hearing.

"Pulsing" or......

Check your bearings.

You never know.

Does the bike shake in anyway when you do it or is just the tiktiktik sound. If its just the sound theres a good chance all your hearing is the pads running over the holes in rotor. There is a faint, inherent sound to haveing drilled rotors.

Have the neck bearings checked too. They tend to loosen up a little.

I have the tick tick tick after I wash the bike, install new pads, or ride in the rain. No pulsing though.
I think it's because the rotor is so large and has holes in it.
I've not noticed any braking problems when this happens.

If it is a ticking under light to medium braking at speeds under 30 mph, it is the steering head bearing. It is easy to fix just follow the steps in the service manual for tourque-ing.

My bike did this, I had 2 buell techs tell me that it was the floating front disc. I finally checked the steering head bearing myself and the ticking completely went away. As an added bonus the the bike will handle better with the head bearing properly tourqu-ed.

*hint* the front wheel must be off the ground.

My XB12 does the same the dealer said it was all ok.
I think its because it a floating disk.

Nope, no pulsing or vibration. I'll check the head bearings next. I've already checked the brakes for loose pads.

Thanks,
Bob
