Oh, I wanted to post another update.

Me and the CityX are getting on fine. Below 3K there's a nice amount of torque. Not too much, but enough.

Then there's about a 1K hole (or it feels like it!).

At 4K it picks up again and I'm reasonably impressed. Although, the low revs are more to my liking. I've done with reving hard and I get my kicks low down now (maybe I should have got a 12, but I like the CityX). If they bring an XB12SX out, I'll have one.

I can get neutral now OK (only from 2nd down, not 1st up). But that's fine. Starting is still pretty bad in the cold (sub 5C).

Also, bike stalls when cracking throttle to set off sometimes. DDFI needs a little work I think (unless my bike has issues). Sometime, the bike just boggs down on wide throttle opening at low speed too. Not used to this, having had the superb GSXR K3 (injection was spot on, max power at max throttle for any given engine speed).

Question - will pulling the snorkel make the bike feel much different?

Handling is superb by the way, better than the GSXR I would say. Which was a suprise. It's a joy to ride round town and on country roads. Although the lack of power does sometimes show.

Another Question: Is there a kit to decrease throttle travel. I hate it when I have to wind the thing right round! I think there's at least twice as much twist to full throttle as there should be.

Take it easy!

I found that when I put the Buell Traction grips on that my hands didn't go numb quite as fast and the throttle twisted up faster due to their increased diameter.....Odie

Note that these "race throttles" that have like 1/2 or even a 1/3 of a twist from a regular throttle also offers less control. It will make the bike more nervous when you are stuck in commute traffic etc.

I'm after a fatter grip like Odie suggested. I loved the size of the grips on my sporty, but they'd look stupid on the buell. Not that I care much about that tho ...

Nick, your on a Fuel injected bike now, roll the throttle on, don't crack it. Its different then on a Carbed bike where a throttle blip off idle is the norm.

Thanks Wyckedflesh,

I didn't explain myself very well. When I say cracked throttle to set off, I didn't mean blip like on a carbed bike, I meant cracked open wide for a launch. The bike just farts and dies sometimes. I suspect a nasty open loop FI as I heard it only goes closed above ticky overy revs.

Cheers

Nick, could it be that it's not warmed up enough? You should be able to feel some warmth in the primary chain cover if it's warmed up enough.

The bike should not be stalling on start-up. Either the idle is set too high or low, or the TPS isn't set correctly. The bike should fire and idle without drama.
