I have a choice to make. XB12R or City X. I got the quote from the insurance company and now plan to go to Space Coast HD to see what deals they can spin. They have a black XB12R or the City X. Both bikes I want and it will depend on what deals I can get for them. | ||

I love my CityX, but one good way to fill in the low end torque hole would be to just buy a 12. Likewise, a 12s could be converted to the 9sx plastics, seat, and handguards for under $600. Then again  I would put a NRHS 1050 tweaked on a 9sx up against a stock 12 in a heartbeat. Not sure what the final cost of each would show up. I think the CityX is more about balance, eagerness, and agility, kind of the peak of a noble breed of middleweight sporting twin. I think the 12's are about grunty, attitude filled, torque heavy streetfighters, another noble breed. Hard to imagine being dissapointed with either, I am sure not dissapointed with my 9sx. Not as much torque as the 12, but plenty fast for me. | ||

Well, I went with the City X. Not my first choice but price and insurance helped with it and I must say it's growing on my more and more. Man is that thing confortable and the looks are top notch. (Would like the Black 12R but it'll have to wait till after school) Anyways, I'm loving this a lot. The seat on it is sooooooooo confortable. Sadly, I can't use the engine all the way yet. Only had 8 miles on it in the show room and now it has 40 on it. (Can't ride much till after I pay the insurance on it. Though, in those first few miles I was kinda regretting it. Till after someone stopped leaving a resturaunt and started asking questions. I love it now.  God, can't wait for the sun to come up. Gotta see what it looks like in the sun. I got it from Space Coast HD so I'm hoping when the race kit gets in they can prove themselves in the service dept. I'll keep you all up to date on that. I didn't get the CityX to get attention, but it sure has gotten allot. Last weekend when I stopped for gas I couldn't get inside to pay after filling up because people kept stopping me and asking me about the bike. One claimed to be an old friend of Erik's, BTW. One of the clerks from the store discretely came outside but went back in when she recognized me.  I too struggled with the 12 vs 9 issue. I had never felt the XB9 was underpowered before and I love the color scheme, seat, and Pirellis on the CityX, so I went that route. Seems like the 12 would excel in more open road type riding where you can really use the additional power. In town and in the curvy mountain roads around here, the 9 seems like plenty, at least for my level of skill and/or nerve.  The race kit will definitely perk it up but it didn't seem like the engine ran as smooth with it. I wanted the smoother running engine more than the additional power and sound so I'm returning it to stock. I'm pretty sure I am in a very small minority on that choice. I was all set to buy a Ducati Monster 800 when I made the mistake of checking out Buell's website and found the CityX. 24 hours later I was the proud owner of my very own XB9SX and I've never looked back. After awhile I did start to wonder if I would have liked the 12R better but after a demo ride on one in Daytona I like my CityX even more. Nothing against the 12 I just have more fun on the CityX. Ask your dealer if he knows of any demos coming up near you and try them both out and see which one fits you. | ||

They don't, something I've noticed though about this dealer. The sales guy while being lacking on knowledge of the bikes (I could have spanked him with all I know) he was more than willing to find the info for me. What's nice about this dealer though is one of the parts guys rides an S3T and the owner is wanting to start a Brag. Now, when they install the race kit I will know more about how they treat us Buell riders. | ||

Make sure they get the correct kit for the XB9SX...a pre-2005 XB9 race kit will not work right - the ECMs are programmed differently to account for the differences in the intake tract. | ||

82007-05y - that's the Race ECM P/N only. | ||

The kit they ordered I believe is 82006-05Y and the site says it's for the 05 XB9S and XB9SX. | ||
