My story;
I purchased an xb9sl almost a year ago. At six foot I was not shopping for a low model anything, but the price was even lower than the bike. At first I thought I might put the regular suspension on the bike, but after a few Battletrax events, I felt the low cg may be an asset. Anyway, I was thinking about maybe just putting on the regular rear shock and leaving the front low. I realize this will drastically alter the geometry, and effect handling. I'm just curious as to whether anyone has tried this, and if anyone has a stock shock for sale.

Well, I think that can be approximated by lowering the forks in the triple trees.... I recommend AGAINST it. Every time that has been tried and I have heard about it, the person hasn't gotten any more than about 1/8th of a mile before the VERY carefully brought the bike back home and changed it back. That said... Everyone I've heard talk about what is necessary to make the bike corner very well on a race track has said that the bike needs about 10mm of added ride height in the back. I don't know exactly what the difference is between raising the back and lowering the front. In any case, I would maybe try (only on my bike, I'm not recommending it) the standard rear shock and then lower the "L" forks to raise the front as well...
