I'm going to be buying a magnaflow 11148 muffler and going to weld a 90 degree bend on it and then cut off the outlets and put some angled pieces on it then paint it all matte black and throw it on my bike. BUT I need the gasket that goes from header to muffler and I can't seem to find one ANYWHERE. Is there a different one that can work?

There is no gasket between the muffler inlet and the header. IIRC, the shop manual says coat the end of the header with a little high temp RTV to ensure a good seal.

EDIT- Judging by your profile pic, I'm guessing this question is in regard to an 1125, not an XB. Try posting in the 1125 sub-forum.

My bad, I forgot to mention the bike. It is an '05 XB12S. Sorry about that. I need to upgrade my profile. I haven't had the 1125 since 2011. Just got back into riding and the 12S was begging me to buy it.

I'll definitely buy some high temp RTV to make sure there is a good seal there. The buy I bought it off of put a Thrush pipe and it doesn't look that good, not to mention there is a lot of exhaust gases escaping from between the header and muffler.

Cool- the 1125's have gaskets on the muffler inlet, but the XB's don't.

So that explains why I could not find it after HOURS of searching and only could find them for the 1125. I did own the 1125 a lot longer then I did my 12R so that must be why I thought it had one. Thanks you for help Hugh. This is why I love this site, can come here and easily get advice and help on anything Buell.

It will probably be a month or so before I kick this project off, but I will make sure to post pictures and videos of it when it is completed.

Most aftermarket exhaust systems do not have a gasket, they're just slip fit, metal to metal.

I thought RTV killed oxygen sensors?

They are WAY north of that gasket point. I don't use RTV on either of my XB9Rs/ With the relieved, overlap pipe on the muffler and a good clamp, RTV is not necessary in my opinion.

Don't forget to remap your ECM..!
Needs more fuel for a freer flowing muffler.
