Has anyone else had problems with the drive belt getting loose after a long ride ? It seems to go back to being taunt after the bike cools down?
Am I nuts or just to hard on the belt?

Never heard that before.

Which Auburn are you from, the one near Hamilton (Cincinnati)?

I am from Lebanon, not far. You have some nice roads out that way.

I was born in Hamilton, left, then family went back there my 9th grade year so I went to high school there.

But back to the topic, I assumed the belts were made not to stretch too much lengthwise and I would have thought any stretching would not be noticeable. Is the tensioner pulley on straight? Is your swingarm brace on tight? Is your rear shock OK? I have not heard of this happening either.

Mike.

That's not right nor good. I have never noticed ANY slack in my drive belt, ever, regardless of riding conditions, even after 15.5K miles.

yes my first xb12s belt was prone to "loosening up" usually noted when either cold or wet. would be loose enough to easily rotate the idler wheel with a single finger. after running the pulley warmed up and tightened it up.
then the belt broke. so that is your warning. get thee a spare belt. good luck, dean h ravin.
