Yeah! My bike (CityX) is due for collection on Wed. It's on a ferry as I type. Just hope it doesn't rain!

Cool Nick, Congrats! Be careful to keep the petrol off the airbox cover, it can mar it.

All you guys with a CityX are making me jealous. Quit posting about it because it just isn't fair because I don't have one.

see its crazy i recall a few months ago everyone bashing the sx when it came out, but look at how many people are buying them, and look at how many new people are entering our world of buells due to the fact that they got a minor face lift. So having said that Mr. Buell must have really known what he was doing despite so much ridicule when he came up with the new body work cuz it definatlly seems to be selling pretty well.

"...cuz it definatlly seems to be selling pretty well. "

Does anyone (who sells these things) actually have any *real* tech/numbers to back up this assertion.

For the record, I believe I was the first to "bash" the CityX -- actually I made what I thought was a compelling case against handguards, iMac bodywork and saving squirrels all in one tidy story ; )

At any rate, I'm not sure that I'd say the CityX's are flying out the door considering it's hard to find anyone who actually stocks/sells Buells in the first place.

So, besides the 3.5 people here that like 'em (joke,) how many have been sold?

DaveS? Court? Bueller?

BTW, Nick -- congrats and welcome to the family. In no way do my tastes in styling have ANYTHING negative to say about yours. I am thrilled to have you as a fellow Bueller -- I just don't care for the CityX. I only make this clarification so that noone gets upset or misintprets my opinion.

Congrats! Ride the out of it when you get it!
Thanks,

Chris

Yes, there is someone.

I don't know the nominal numbers, but they seem to be producing (in a demand pull system) as quickly as possible.

The Cx seems, from simply reading, to be a huge hit in the media. The handguards are a "non issue" sort of argument in my mind. Are they functional? They are as functional as the lighted door sill MB logo in an SL55.

I note that several folks who have bought the new Buells were all not looking for a bike and became smitten with the City Crosser.

Let's give it a bit of time and see what history says....by the way, I spent a while Sunday riding a very interesting 318# bumble bee blaster in NYC and even I may start riding a motorcycle again.

; )

I've never said a cross word about the CityCross.
Just wait 'til the smoke body work comes out.
I may start riding a motorcycle again.
Hard to believe you stopped. I think you just lost your keys.

Actually guys. Here's my £0.02 (notice the currency).

I rode the XB12S and the XB9R. I looked silly on them. I felt silly on them. They looked kinda cool, and rode nice, sorta.

I rode the CityX. I liked the style but I couldn't get too excited about it. Honest. But the ride was so much more fun. I liked the motor better, I liked the handling and the seating position more too. I still look silly tho, but WTH.

So whilst the styling has grown on me, I chose the think for the ride it gave, pehaps in the same way I have chosen my ladies over the years ;-D

Looks like rain all week here BTW, so might not pick it up after all.

PS How does the Buell fair in salty wet winter weather? My GSXR near on desolved last year, only the plastic remained! Any tips?

I ride mine year 'round.
Just put a little oil (WD40)on any bolt tops or anything else that may rust or oxidize, or the like, and you're good to go

There ya all go 'dissin my handguards again. ; )

I'm telling you, these things are not just cosmetic, they are an extra month of riding. And they would be dead simple to add and remove from any other naked bike. I expect to see these things catching on and bringing people on other brands of naked bikes to your friendly neighborhood Buell dealer to order a set.

I bought a 9sx because it was an *exceptionally* well sorted and nicely refined XB9s right from the factory, and was more or less an XB9s-tall. I would include the handguards and the new tires in the "functional upgrade" category.

(Though I do admit I like the clever eye candy like clear plastic and headlight guard though, but I would not argue that they are functional. Don't make me admit I am vain ; ) ).

Those handguards just beg for a custom paint job, like maybe claws or eyeballs, something. You could even paint on a set of large knuckles with actual spikes protruding from them.

Congrat's Nick. Enjoy the ride.
As for the general sale of these things, I know that the two dealers I stop by around here ( Frederick and Gettysburg ) have had them, I say HAD. They went quick.

Sorry fellas, the day got away from me yesterday.
I need a good clean pic of the CityX's front.
The only pics I have are coming from the Buell web site. Now that it's all in Flash, the pic quality ain't what it used to be.
If ya got one post it as big as you can or give me a link to a nice one.
Then we can have some fun!

I got it! It rained. Booooo ;-(

So, done 30 miles and washed it already.

I also was told to ride it up to 3000rpm but no further. The book says 2500. Doh! I guess it won't hurt. I was very very gentle with it. But for the rest I will go slower.

I like it a lot. It's very comfy. I need to fit the heated grips though. It's cold here!

I'm a proper Bueller now. Respect my authoritiiii!

Thanks you guys!

Also, I have been told I have the first non-demo / display model in the UK. There are lots in shops but all demo or display, which have to remain display for 6 months (Harley rule in the UK so the dealer says). So, for now, I'm unique!

How long 'til the hand guards are available in carbon fiber?

All Buell models -except the 12Scg- receive the new 43mm forks for the 2005 model year.

Did the gearing change for 2005 as well? Looks to me like all the 9's have the same gearing (as far as I can tell), but somebody was saying something from the 12 was used. Did it change?

The rear final drive pulley has the same part number as the 12. Not sure about the front pulley, or if it's on any other than the City X.

I looked at the PDF's on the 2005 CD, and it had the same ratios listed for all the 9's. Don't know if it is the same as the 2004/2003's.

I have a 2004 flyer here, but it does not give a final drive ratio.

They might have changed the primary drive ratio though, the 2004 flyer says 1.68:1 for the 9's, and 1.5:1 for the 12's. I believe the 2005 PDF on CD says 1.6:1 for the 9's. So maybe all the 9's changed for '05. Wonder if the 9 now has a *higher* top speed then the 12... (not that I would ever find out).

I take it back, just rechecked the CD, all the 9' for 2005's list a 1.68 primary ratio. The 12's all have the 1.5 ratio.

All the 2005's (12 and 9) list the secondary ratio as 2.4:1 (5/27).

Can't find secondary ratios on the '04 brochure.
