Hello fellow buellers. I am new to buell, but having lots of fun. I just put 1000 mi on my xb9sx, and have had no problems as of yet. Was curious about the factory pro series race kit. Is it worth it , is there a big boost in performance. I will put some pics up soon. If there is anything i should know please i love the tips. Thanks | ||

Most of the stuff we found was already taken care of by Buell... You have the 12 airbox and the larger throttle body. I would recommend the race filter, the race ECM and a Drummer pipe. You could also cut up your inner airbox to allow more airflow into the airbox. Also, remove your snorkel. NOT the velocity stack that is attached to the throttle body, but the snorkel that goes through the left side of the frame. If you cut the inner airbox up properly, you should be able to see the air filter through the airbox cover, which I think would look pretty good. | ||

Obviously if you were concerned about power you could have bought a bike with plenty more. Plus leaving it alone wont compromise your warranty 1 bit. | ||

Thanks guys. I have to admitt M1 i am not very smart about engines and wouldnt think of messing with it my self untill i know alittle more about. Should i get the factory race kit, Also can i do anything to make the highway ride a little more comfortable. Ive been getting killed by the wind, is there a higher windscreen i can get, or mabey a lower seat would help. | ||

Welcome! About 275 miles on my CityX so far...got it last Saturday but have had some crummy weather so I haven't gotten to ride it as much as I would like, but who does, right?  My dealer offered $500 off the bike or a race kit installed. Since the kit and installation would probably run about $700 otherwise, I ordered the race kit. From the dyno chart on the website it looks like the kit gives the bike a little boost in the 2500-4000 RPM range' which is where I seem to spend allot of time. There's also a pretty nice boost in the 5000-6500 RPM range. I'll have to wait and see how much I'll be using that. I'd also like a little more substantial sound from the exhaust, without setting off car alarms and sending old ladies and children screaming away with fingers in ears.  However...I had a stock Ducati Monster that was running great...that is until I added the Ducati Performance Kit [opened airbox and de-restricted exhaust]. But in that instance the mods weren't accompanied by a new ECU or fuel map like the Buell race kit. I'm planning on having the race kit installed at the first service at 1000 miles. I'm going to make sure I keep all the "take-offs" so I can return the bike to stock, if desired. It does seem to be running quite well as it is though... if it just had a little more roll on throttle ooomph. | ||

The race ECM is worth getting for the street, at least until people figure out how to reprogram the factory one. The race exhaust is really for racing, it gives a big bang at the top end, but does not do much below, and I think even hurts stock a little. The drummer is a much better street exhaust. The Race air filter will help as well, but I am not going to bother doing mine until the stock filter gets dirty (or until I see a deal). But the bike is pretty damn good from the factory. Take it from an ex tuber tinkerrer that now has a 9sx... just appreciate the fact that you can just hop on the thing and ride the wheels off. | ||

havent seen another xb yet, but i did see a firebolt in Providence. Thanks alot for the info guys. for now im going to work on cosmetics would love those mirrors that come out of handle bar ends. And a light would be cool shineing out of that nice blue tank. | ||

3rd eye bar ends go on with only minor mods, you should be able to find them at any bicycle shop. Not perfect, but not bad and better then stock. If you have any problem finding them, email me offline, I can get some locally and ship them to you for cost. | ||

I like that Firebolt model - anyone know how big it is. eBay mentioned 1:43, which I guess would make it a bit over 1 1/2" longs. Didn't sound right? Henrik | ||
