Anyone able to post a pic or tell me how the spring on the exhaust actuator is installed. Removed it to sandblast the muffler and not sure how to reinstall. I can't find any good pics in the repair manual. Such a simple thing but I just am not satisfied that I have it right.

The coil side goes on the lug where the cable housing screws into.
The loop goes over the post, purpose to preload the shaft so it doesn't rattle and make noise(?).

What I am really asking is it seems obvious one end gos to welded on bracket, other end seems to hook over center pivot pin. Never pulled one apart but this doesn't seem like it would do anything. Maybe the pin that sticks out is not the pivot pin as I am thinking?

I have cut up a muffler and removed the interactive valve.

The spring does nothing more than preload the shaft, that the exhaust buttery fly valve is fastened to, in the direction of the spring's compression.

No problem... have a great day.
Be sure to lube the collector with anti seize and follow the muffler installation procedure in the service manual.

And, don't over torque the straps.

I guess the spring is just to keep the shaft from rattling and driving you nuts?
