Well I don't live anywhere near a city and I can't envision very many scenarios in which the headlight grill or the hand guards will be needed but I rejoined the Buell family yesterday by purchasing a XB9SX. I previously owned an XB9SL and I have missed the Buell experience. Buells are really in their element around here...rural curvy roads with elevation changes. The Buell meshed with my personality better than any bike I have owned or ridden. I'm not that crazy about the hand guards and headlight grill but I love the color scheme on the CityX. I was glad to see larger forks and the Pirelli tires as standard. The Buell demo fleet was at Bikes, Blues, and BBQ a couple of weeks ago and I got a ride on the XB9SX. My initial impression that the engine was more powerful and smoother than on my XB9SL was confirmed in the brief ride I took on mine yesterday when I got it home...raining...of course! I got a good deal on a race kit and I'll have it installed when the bike goes back for the 1000 mile service. The 9's engine with a little extra ooomph is all the engine I feel I need, given my skill level and riding preferences. I spent last night setting the suspension up for my weight and removing the lawyer-mandated warning labels. The brake lever is adjusted, the tire pressures have been checked...all I need now is some frickin' dry weather! I'm just too much of a puss to head out on a new bike with virgin tires on wet streets. I guess I'll be contacting Dave shortly for a few goodies...my wife told I should have kept the Buell tail bag she gave me for Christmas last year. Now when I wear one of the Buell tee shirts I'm no longer posing as a Buell owner. FWIW, my bike was born in September of 04 so it hasn't been away from the mothership for very long. The salesmen told me that mine was the third one they had sold and they were pleasantly surprised at the level of interest being shown in the CityX's. As soon as it dries up, I'll once again be out there cruising the Ozarks on a Buell and waving at the dour faced cruiser and Jap sportbike riders. |

Congrats! The handguards will grow on you, they do a remarkable job of extending the riding season for a completely passive and completely non invasive approach. Careful when you put in gas, I had one batch that had a splash that mar'd the surface. Novus will polish it out, but it is a PITA. |

Congratulations ! Welcome to the CityX club. The Buell experience is addictive. One accidental demo ride for me last year and I ended up buying a new CityX. I had been on touring bikes since '91 and now I know what I was missing from my last bike, the joy of motorcycling. BTW, my CityX was born on July 04, who has the oldest ? |

If you don't want the headlight guard... I will give it a home! |

I started to take it and the hand guards off last night, but decided to leave them on for a while. After going three weeks with warm temps and no rain, we have had three straight days of rain showers with more on the way. The new Buell is waiting.... On the bright side, the translucent body work allows me to see more of what is rapidly depreciating while I'm waiting for the rain to stop. |

Congrats. Just rode with Sabitino (SP?) who was on his City X. Good looking & great running bike. In the last few days I've seen more of different makes of bikes with hand guards. Looks like it's getting popular. Don't let the few past sourpuss's comments bug ya as you got a great bike. (Message edited by unibear12r on October 11, 2004) |

The new Buell is waiting.... Last spring when I bought my XB9S we had record rain fall for consecutive days. It rained three weeks straight! Here's to sunny days, and clear roads |

Born on the 4th of july? That'd be a catchy tune! I noticed the last digits of my VIN are 000060... does that mean I have 9sx #60? That'd be cool... |

Looks like my July '04 #000302 is a newer model. With all the CityX's showing up I am definitely thinking about some custom paint or plastic. |

Jpl... while cleaning the airbox, I got some moisture inside, basically a fog. It beaded up nicely, and looked incredible through the clear plastics. Kind of a pealescent with incredibly thick clear coat. If you are going to paint anyway, start with the inside surface, maybe an aluminum or pearl paint. It would look incredible I think. |
