What is the function of the special nuts on top of the cylinders? Do you rotate the crank to release the pressure on the pushrods before unbolting or re-installing a head? | ||

the nuts are there to hold the cylinders down temporary, as pushing or pulling off one cylinder can rotate the crank, with the cylinders not secured it will lift the cylinder from the base rotate the crank, you should, but i don't bother anymore, keeping the rocker boxes flat tighten evenly , you get a feel when the lifters are bleeding, just 1/4 turn at the time , and you feel the pressure is off the 1e bolt when you get back to it but if unsure , yeah rotate the engine | ||
