So I have had a few issues with throttle response and very poor running (coughing, stumbling, delayed acceleration) this summer and have reset the throttle position sensor a few times. Each time the reset has worked. This current time though, it does not seem to work at all. The bike continues to run really bad. I have not replaced the spark plugs yet and will do so but if I remember from past repairs, that never seems to do anything to help. Has anyone replaced the actual throttle position sensor with success to remedy the poor running condition?

Over time the TPS develops wear in it. You can take it off, rotate it a bit clockwise (I believe it is) to preload it and then tighten the mounting screws back up.
I'm pretty sure it's clockwise, it's been a year or two since I had to do mine.

I might need to take her into a shop unfortunately. I changed the spark plugs and now I get the engine light on. When I read the trouble codes it indicated at first a rear oxygen sensor issue and then after that cleared a air temperature sensor issue. As usual I probably did something to break the poor Buell further when I was trying to change the plugs.

Well, found out my trouble code. Forgot to plug in the air intake sensor on the air box. Still won't run, but at least I got that squared away. I think I am going to replace the TPS and see what that does. Might be time to fix her up and get rid of it. I am getting tired of electrical demons coming out every summer.
