I have the xb12r and was riding home today when a yamaha R6 tried racing me. I raced and what happens I loose by 5-6 bike lengths. We went from first 1st-4th and he still beats me. I was pissed because I used to only ride street bikes 1000's and I am trying to represent buell and harley as much as I can but this fu..er beats me. Now he going to go home and tell all his friends that the new buells are slow. I need more power. I also guess it doesn't help that I'm 6'2 230 and he was a little probly 150. I want that new force kit to come out. Anyone with suggestion please let me know. I can't have this again

Carry some stick on wheel balancing weights in your pocket. Next time you see a Jap sportbike parked up stick a load on his front wheel. Then when he tries to race you he'll give up and pull in thinking that he has a puncture and you'll win: )

That R6 wouldn't stand a chance in the twisty stuff... I know, I used to own one...

So chin up, lad... Let him believe his bike is faster. In fact his bike is 'faster' (270kph compared to your 220kph), it's just that yours is quicker, everywhere that matters... CORNERS!!!

I really don't wanna offend you, but maybe its time to grow up and learn not to give a f**k about what others think about you and your bike. Why did you buy it in the first place? Cos it's fast?

When I got my xb9 I knew what I was getting and although I get my whipped regularly, not only on straights but thu the twisties as well ... I don't care. I know I'm not the best rider out there, but I'm having fun and if they're happy on their riceburners .. what more could we possibly want?

btw, I ride with an R6 sometimes, my colleague has one and my 9 keeps up with it. Not easily, but when I pay attention to the gear I'm in, watch him closely and anticipate on him trying to get away from me, I keep up with him to about 110mph.

Ingemar has the right idea. I've come off sports bikes to get away from that.

I don't subscribe to the 'which is fastest, who rides fastest' school at all, BUT, when you have a proper sports bike it's hard not to. I figured moving to Buell would a) Slow me down a little and neaten up my riding style and b) get me back to enjoying riding, it's become a daily chore on the GSXR (6).

When my CityX finally arrives (dumb f*#ck^rs) I'll let you know if my plan worked!

In the end, there is always a faster bike then the one your riding, no matter what You are riding. The r6/r1 are super fast and very nice bikes, but a dime a dozen. I see ten a day on the road.
The XBs are not the King of the straights or corners, But They have Soul baby!!!

After everyone is done flaming you for wanting more power, pull out a measuring tape and get the width of your wallet. Once you confirm that it is in fact much too thick, send your motor to one of the shops who advertise here.

These shops have posted numbers for Buell's with over 120 RWHP. That will take care of all the R6's you see.

What's so wrong with wanting a quicker Buell? Personally, I don't care what I'm up against. I want whatever I'm riding/driving to be faster than what I'm racing against ON THE TRACK.

I simply don't understand why when someone posts a comment/question about wanting more ponies after being flogged by another bike, many of the people here get on their soap box with comments like "you shouldn't care", "grow up", etc. I'm willing to bet that I can find posts from some of those very same people in previous threads discussing intakes, exhausts, ecu's, head work, etc. And what are those items for??? MORE H.P.

So now that I'm off my soap box, and will surely get riddled with hacks...

To start, you may want to get the FAST intake with the Jardine exhaust. I can't speak from personal experience regarding the actual performance numbers. But I feel that the guys at Hillbilly Motors know a hell of a lot more than I do about making HP. Here's the link: http://www.hillbilly-motors.com/html/fast_dynos.html

This said, there's ALWAYS something out there that will hand you your on a platter. So get used to it if you're gonna race.

The bottom line is that it will take a wad of cash to turn an XB into a rice eater in a straight line.

I know a guy who just built a Factory Five Cobra kit car. he had the option of a 375hp ford 302 or a 450hp ford 351 and he went with the lesser motor. he said the other had "The other one has too much power." I blasted him as did about everybody else that knows him. Let me just say to you Crazy04 YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH POWER. (this is so important I must finish this post a la Hogs) PERIOD!

Dago, do your search. I don't going around crying someone flogged me on a 600. Sure I want more power. I asked about upping the rev limiter. I'm all over my bike to get more out of it. Sure man. But that's not my point.

But dude, if ya come home crying about what someone might think of you and you're bike, there's something wrong and it aint the bike. Kinda sounds like my wife when she's without her make-up. I'm serious when I say I mean no offense, but get over it man. Once you can have peace with that, go get yourself the biggest baddest Nallin bigbore kit or worse and take your bad scoot to the track and don't forget to invite your r6 friends.

If your only need is for more power, just buy it in the first place as you'll be far ahead in total bucks. Look through the "hardnumbers" in the back of Motorcyclist and then check out real world prices not just MSRP. You can buy an FZ-1 for under 8,000, likely well under. Take a look at the 1/4 miles, the 60 to 80 top gear roll-ons, RWHP and Torque.

But is that what you really want, or did you buy the bike you really wanted but later envied the power of say the FZ-1. I doubt it. You may wish for the power of a liquid cooled in-line 4 in your air-cooled v-twin. No way at same displacement. You want the most powerful v-twins, look to the 4 valve liquid ones.

Most of the bikes I've owned have been 4 bangers, but now my garage has three twins, one vertical, one 45 degree and the other 90 degree configurations. They're all great bikes in their way and all simple 2 valve air-cooled.

But then at my advance age and diminished skill and bravado, I simply like the torque curve and feel of the twins. I'm leaving it to you younger guys to get the fastest, baddest, open class rockets. But be careful you might not reach my age. I may be slow but I'm still riding and that's what counts to me. And, my ego has been turned off years ago so I don't try to emulate Nicky Hayden--hell, I'm older than his grandpa.

Getting more power out of a bike is half the fun!

It suprises me that a Buell rider (I assume we are all gearheads) would not be able to relate to someone who simply wants more (of a good thing).

Damn Did I post I HATE BUELLS or did I post I love my Buell and want to represent the bike to the fullest. I cant believe how many posts on stupid there was. If the guy would have had a R1 I wouldn't have posted no he would beat me. I used to own 2 GSZR1000's That would blow my bike out of the water but a 600 common I should be able to beat him. For the people that posted related links to help me with more power-Thanks For everyone else I hope you represent that Buell to the fullest of your ability. I dont care what people think about me, but I do care what a cocky fu...er thinks about the Buell name and harley itself. Done I cant believe the replies I got, I thought I would get more help then, well you know you bought a buell so get over it. Thats ridiculous

Too much hp is just about the right amount.

3 things you cant ever have enough of..
#1. Money
#2. Sex
#3. HP
And with enough of #1 you can get all of #'s 2 & 3 that you would ever want.: D

Crazy,
Just think of this like someone's back yard who owns a dog. The grass is green, the flowers are in bloom, there's fresh fruit and vegetables in the garden if you're hungry, there's a whole assortment of tools in the toolshed, and occasionally there's a few piles of dog crap that you have to watch out for. Some people can see what your intent was, other's can only smell the doggie doo on your shoe. Wipe it off on the doormat before you come in and I'll hose the mat off later. No harm, no foul, life goes on. May you find the power you seek, and may you gain the goal you reach for. And grab a few tomatos off the vine for the salad on your way in, thanks.

Crazy04...
Screw the liter bikes!!!
Save 'em for the squids or ride 'em on the track where they belong.

Stick around and soak up the knowledge, then ride the 5hit outta that Firebolt at every chance you get!
Gotta represent the American Muscle baby!

Just watch the personal attacks on board members, admins don't take kindly to that. Even if they are husky British newbies.

WHY! WHY! Getting beat by a common 600 is like being an undefeated capt. of the wrestling team and getting pinned in the 1st period by a 6th grader. That would be "Why!" Sloper, I feel your pain! I have an 03 XB9er and I really miss that 6th gear! Every time a ricer pulls up to me and wants to race I just put my head down in shame and shake my head no. I know better. I enjoy the ride very much now dont get me wrong and I understand everyone saying if you wanted to beat a 600 then get a liter bike then get a 1000. I mean it is not like the XB9R is a liter bike or anything... (sarcastic) My old R6 would have blown the XB out of the water in the twisties. Anyone who says different has never ridden an R6 to its full potential. Sorry is I offend, but I am really tired of seeing people trying to polish a turd. You just can't... I got the Buell for the individuality. That is it. I am not let down by it bc I did not expect much. This was just my 2 cents and No... I dont want any change back, but thx for asking. =)

I agree with you for the most part xeno. But it sounds like you're saying the xb is the worst sportsbike out there and I don't think that's true. I think its an excellent bike but it's certainly not the best.

But honestly I don't think people get beat because their xb isn't up to the job, most of the time it's the riders ability. The biggest group of people bragging about their bikes' handling are buell riders. But go to the track and count the buells you see. Look at buells rear tires you see.

Go ahead flame me, I don't care. But I've learned that those with the biggest mouth about handling and performance are those with the biggest chicken strips.

Crazy04:

You bought a nice bike with character and handling but fas she is not an will never be. The engine it has with limited rpm capability and heavy internals (for all that torque) prevent it form accelerating fast. If you want acceleration you need another bike. Ducatis accelerate faster while retaining some decent low end and handling but in line 4s are queens except they are dogs in the curves.

I have one of each.
